Student Debt

I guess we know how PSU, ASU, tOSU & Minnesota are able to make their recruiting dollars go so far. They saddle their student athletes with tons of debt.

At least PSU is stand up enough to have the NLWC pays off all their guys debt after college.

Somebody from the HR needs to forward this link ASAP to young Mr. Lee for required reading while he recuperates. Imagine if he ends up at PSU - he'll be paying it off for the rest of his life!

While you're at it, forward it to Suriano, Manville, Lee, Lee, etc. I'll bet they don't know that they have been bamboozled by Cael. It's not too late for them.

On a serious note, PSU and all the PA state schools ARE among the worst in the country for financial aid awards, as well as being among the highest in-state tuitions for regular PA residents. Although they are getting a great education, it does suck to put 2 kids through the state system (with a 3rd on the way).

Hey Gobblin and HIWILLE - wtf - the Davenport Kaplan campus is #7. How the heck did that happen?

That is what happens when you support liberal politicians with out of control spending habits. In 1990 it was $1000 a semester to go to Pa state schools.

That is really a reach. According to the story the debt is not the result of high tuition but the large number of new students that have fairly small amounts of debt.

As far as Hall and Lee go the debt should not matter because the NLWC will be paying their debt after college (according to you.) Using that logic they should go to PSU.

PS. Where did Iowa get the money to buy their championships? Did you care about debt when you were still winning?

You are way off base here. The spending at most universities has stayed flat or very close to it for quite awhile now. The biggest change is not liberal out of control spending habits...it's just the opposite. States have drastically reduced the funding to Universities.

The University I work at has a $3b budget. They receive about $120m in state support, or 4% of their budget. Not too long ago, most public universities got 35%-40%+ from the state.

The NLWC pays off kid's debt? Does HWC do this?

That almost sounds like circumventing the scholarship limit.

"Hey come here, wrestle for this much now and at the end you'll be made whole."

Obviously it's probably legal and I'm all good for supporting kids chasing their dreams of Gold also I hate the NCAA so good for PSU.

That cannot be allowed by the NCAA. If it were, big schools could promise to pay all their athletes after they graduate. Boosters are not even allowed to take a student athlete to McDonalds, let alone pay off their debts.

I think that is a response to a tweet from Q Wright a week or two ago implying that some colleges were paying off student loans after they graduated - didn't specifically name any (PSU?). Suprised that that tweet didn't get more comments or scrutiny.

I knew you worked for a college after the first sentence. YOu have your hand in the taxpayers pocket and your views are skewed.

I am right. YOU do not work for a Pennsylvania school do you? The OP brought up Pennsylvania. IN Pa the state schools all expanded and only two of the 14 had increased enrollment. Their spending was out of control like most colleges.

Where do you work? Poor baby that you only get $120 MILLION from the state. Am I supposed to feel bad for you? How many billions to you collect in tuition and fees? How much do the profs make? Do your profs make $700k like Elizabeth Warren? I love how liberal profs like Warren making $700k/year and living in $5 million homes are acting like the represent the middle class.

The reality is the states cut spending AFTER they increased spending NUMEROUS times and YOU did not get the results. YOUR grads were flipping burgers. Why is that? I bet you teach art or music.

Liberals lie to the public. They claim their programs save money. HUH? Where is the savings? When has a liberal program EVER resulted in a long term savings. Liberals claim more money for education will save us money in the long run but they NEVER agree to cut welfare at the back end. Show me one liberal who will agree to cut welfare on the back end!!! If we go with the liberal premise the increased funding for education should not cost us a dime but the FACT is it costs us billions because their plans fail and they still want MORE money for welfare after the ghettocrats can't get jobs.

Since we are speculating then he is probably referring to Iowa.

Going after liberals on a wrestling board? That's pretty funny. Maybe he thought this was the tennis board. I especially like this post because I'm in art (actually design), my wife is in music, and I live in Massachusetts in the town next-door to Cambridge, where Elizabeth Warren lives. Wish my house was worth a million.
How do you guys want your burgers? I'll get the grill started. I like burgers medium-rare with an over-easy egg on top. Mmmmm. Fries with that?
However, I also work with some scientists from Penn State, and they aren't like this guy. Most of the PSU wrestling fans I've met aren't either. Just put him on "ignore" until the moderators move posts like this over to an appropriate place.

I was content speculating about Spencer Lee's upcoming wedding.

It was one of your fans who started thread about student debt(In Pennsylvania) on a wrestling board.

I set the record straight and then the liberal art prof starts crying that he does not get more money to teach kids who can't even find jobs.
