MSU was missing their best player who happens to be one of the best in the country. Nice win regardless but the chant makes no sense in this case.

I was there, some skinny dweeb started it with 3:30 to go or so and a few of the less informed Hawk students got involved. I was in the student section and it didn't seem that loud. I'd guess that about half the kids were doing it.

It stopped pretty quick. Not a big deal. Kids start it and slowly realize for themselves that the chant has lost its luster.

I guess it's more efficient than chanting "we're not that good and you lost to us," which is what it really says. So it does have that going for it.

Never a good chant. Ever.

Actually, makes some sense when the opponent is No. 1. Should we be saying that we are zero, or some fraction less than one, or a negative number?

With regard to the chant and the "court storm", both were incredibly weak and looked stupid on TV.

Act like you've been there before and you know you'll go again.

Can't tell if trolling or not.

We just beat the #1 team in the country, something that Iowa has only ever done twice before.

Think about that. In Iowa's 73 years of basketball, they have played a total of 1,929 games (yes I counted). This is only the 3rd time ever Iowa has beaten the #1 team, and first time since 1999. Also the first time ever beating them at home.

Let the kids enjoy it. I was at the game last night and even I pondered rushing the court with them.

I'm not trolling. It looks stupid to do an "over-rated" chant when you beat a severely handicapped team on your home court AND you were favored by 3. It isn't an upset, which is why the court storm was also stupid... if we were big underdogs and MSU had their best player, then it looks good to celebrate with a court storm. The "over-rated" chant never looks good.

Appears we disagree, which is fine. I'd buy you a beer in Pasadena!

The overrated chant was and always is unnecessary, but I have no problem with the students and fans storming the court afterwards. The fans feel can share in the moment with the team and coaches, I'm sure the players appreciate the reaction and it creates a festive environment after a big win for the program. Fran sure seemed to enjoy high fiving all the fans as he tried to exit the court. Let folks have fun, its been 16 years since we beat a #1 team and the first time on our own court. While we were favored in Vegas, this was a huge upset win for the Hawks.

In general court storming is stupid unless you have done something monumental. The only thing that is worse than court storming is the addiction to taking selfies while court storming. Yeah we won, hold on, selfie time. This likely officially pushes me into the old & bitter category.

After the game I witnessed Margaret give Fran a big wet kiss. I suppose some of you guys would prefer she saves that for the bedroom?

You should ask that question on HROT and wait for the political puppets to dance

Agreed chanting over-rated and storming the court is WEAK. Makes us look like Iowa State. We are better than that so don't do it and act like you have been there before.
Student-section-wise, we are not better than that. Especially when it's the reserves.

Just curious, how many times have we played the #1 team?

I thought the court storming was OK, and deserved. We just knocked off the #1 team in the country....a team that has been an habitual thorn in our side. It wasn't done in a helter skelter manner. The players were allowed back to the benches and the crowd was, more or less, orderly. It's not like we just knocked off an unranked team and ran roughshod over everyone that stood in our way.

The reason for the chant, is simply because it pisses the higher ranked teams fans and players off as they go down the drain...for that reason alone.... I love it
(unless of course its happening to Iowa, then I hate it).

I don't know, but prior to last night, trips to the final four outnumbered defeats of a #1 team, so go on, rush the court, just don't hit any members of the press.

It doesn't upset the other team. When someone does it to Iowa I just think the fan base is stupid and just doesn't realize how dumb they look. Just a chant that fans like ISU say.

Rushing the court was fine. Overrated chant is stupid, but students are stupid, so whatchya gonna do.

They were missing their best player? We had our best guy miss for a large chunk as well. Also, let's not act like MSU doesn't have depth and top recruiting teams every year, They're supposed to be able to weather injuries.

We were favored? By, like, 2.5 points. That's basically a coin-flip.

Stop peeing in the cereal and enjoy the goddamn win.

No Iowa State storms the court when they are ranked in the top 5 and we unranked.

Last night was a great win and what I'm going to say isn't meant to diminish what Iowa accomplished last night, but let's be honest regarding this MSU team without Valentine. This is probably the least talented roster Izzo has had top to bottom in several years and he incredibly doesn't reel in top recruiting classes every year as you suggest. Simply look at MSU's last three recruiting classes, for a program like MSU and coach like Izzo I would argue those recruiting classes are mediocre at best and probably below average for their standards. Perhaps Izzo paid the price for entertaining the thought of coaching in the NBA, but look back at his 2013, 14 and 2015 classes and you tell me if those look anything like a top recruiting class? Izzo has a monster class coming in next year, but his last three have been surprisingly mediocre for a coach and program with as much success as they've had.

Again, MSU was ranked #1 in country and the Hawks won last night, so you can't take that away from them. But at the same time, I think its fair to look at this objectively and understand that MSU without Valentine is a totally different team as they don't have talent up and down their roster like they do most years. Last night was the perfect time to take down Sparty...easier said than done so the Hawks absolutely deserve a ton of credit, but lets not act like this MSU team has talent like the UNLV teams from the early 90's.
