Heiden and Hays both can handle the uptempo better. They are more mobile and athletic as well. Plus they're rebounding machines which goes towards them being more mobile and athletic. Someone can correct me on this, but from the highlights I've seen of Hays, I even think Hays might be slightly more mobile and athletic than Heiden. Of course, need to see her play at the college level to validate this coz HS can be deceiving based on competition.
They both can also move to caught a pass that doesn't exactly hit them where their hands are currently positioned.
“Layla is more physical down low, has a better jump shot and is a more consistent scorer,” Hebert-Truax said.
"She’s a big who wants to play big, not shoot 3s and try to handle the ball. She camps in the middle of the key, hits the boards and owns a FG% of .592. And don’t sleep on her defense." Here's a small sample of her highlights.

"
I'm so excited and playing in front of this fanbase played a pretty big role in my decision," she said. "Seeing the support system here is amazing. I'm blessed to be considered and even be offered by them."

Now there may be another option next year. It was kicked around recently about converting Ava to a 4 next year as well. Maybe a competition between Hannah and Ava to see who ends up with best stroke from distance next year? We have no idea if Hannah will develop her game at the 4 this late in her career. That means we will possibly have the same problem next year with 3 players looking for playing time at the 5. Would be nice to shuffle these 3 around the 4 and 5 spot as needed next year if their development pans out that way.
That came out of this interview...
Can Heiden hit a jump shot? I believe she can. How far can she go out?

"Ava Heiden may be the answer at the five. A freshman, four-star center from Sherwood, Oregon, Ava is an athletic post player than can run the floor, finish around the rim, grab rebounds, block shots
and shoot the mid-range jump shot."
Iowa freshman center Ava Heiden is impressing in practice and could be headed towards the starting lineup in year one.

Here's Heiden hitting a recent jump shot above or at the FT line against IN. It will set you back $499 for a large. Wonder if these girls get any NIL cut for this?
Against BYU...
"Ava Heiden makes a jump shot from 13 feet out. Hannah Stuelke with the assist."
