Suck it poors!!! Taxes

Biden's plan was to have no increase on under 400k.
Trump's plan is to have all increases on under 400k and large cuts for those above 400k.

Trump's base is largely under 400k.
Trump's base voted to raise taxes on themselves to allow for BIG cuts on top 5%.

This sucks.

That's fake news. If you pay taxes, you will likely get a tax cut with Trump's plan.

If you are a deadbeat who doesn't pay income taxes, you won't get a tax break with Trump.

The same can be said of those all around me. Regardless, those among us who are not upwardly mobile don’t pay taxes anyway, so they won’t feel any tax increase.

So now we’re up to a sample size of maybe a hundred out of somebody in what is likely a pretty affluent area?

Compelling stuff there. Might want to make that the centerpiece of a doctoral thesis. Tell me how it goes.

I’m sorry upward mobility has evaded you. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Is this better than the across the board tax increase the Democrats would be hot after if they controlled all three branches of government?

If I was a poor then I would want the democrat tax increases because at least it includes the rich (misery loves company). But since I'm not a poor, I'll take my tax break and enjoy the money.

Meh. Same old same old. Leftists tell me that a Republican tax plan will increase my taxes. And again, my marginal rate will decrease, though my tax bill will increase because I end up making substantially more money. That’s not the result of the tax plan. That’s just the result of upward mobility.
I'm sure by the end of the decade, you will also be making hamberders along with those fries.

Ah, the old leftist mantra. “Everybody else is a failure, but I’m doing great”. Sure thing, sporto.

I’ve never heard anyone say that ever.

Dude does everything have to be all or nothing with you? I’m doing just fine. I’ve got a good job working for the same company for the last 15 years. I’ve been with the same woman since high school, literally 25 years in now. I’ve got 3 good kids.

I’m not setting the world on fire but my life is more than I ever imagined. Just got to see my chiefs win the AFC again. I wasn’t close - 300 level row 29, but dang it was great to be in the building for that one.

My life is a long way from perfect but man it ain’t half bad.

No doubt. The left enjoys redistributing misery perhaps more than they enjoy redistributing wealth.

He doesn’t know who the Kansas City Chiefs are.

That's fake news. You are being a drama queen. Nearly everyone who pays taxes will get a tax cut with Trump.
And how does that help this nation solve its debt concerns? It’s high time we take action in reducing the nation’s debt… and we are long past “growing” out of the debt. You aren’t going to “cut spending” faster than raising the debt and with more reasonable interest rates. Unfortunately, folks are going to have to contribute more of their $$ to reduce the debt. Understand there are huge payments to be made by the federal government to aid folks in the SE US and California to aid them with recent natural disasters and the resultant strain on building supplies is going to add to the costs in this rebuild and the costs will be with us for many many years to come.

Just to be clear, the tax cut is maintaining the current tax rates. Not further tax rate reductions.

If a tax cut isn't made, there will be a tax increase for most Americans when the current rates expire.

So do most people not have insurance to cover their loss? I get there's money needed for getting the infrastructure back but for individuals they should have insurance so others don't have to pay to help them. Maybe I'm missing something.

Have you read the news the past couple of years?
Lots of these losses are not being covered. And lots of these losses will take several years before they can be replaced. What about these folks who have to wait for a few years to rebuild, meanwhile they have to lay mortgage payments and pay for living expenses while their homes/businesses are being rebuilt??
So I don’t know if you are “missing something” but just not looking at the realism of the problem as it exists. Plus, there are many folks who are not insured and are “under-insured”…and imagine the price if the rebuild. It will be astronomical with the inflated prices of building materials and the shortages the rebuild will create. You think there was inflation following Covid… I fear you have not seen anything yet.,.the price of cement….roofing materials, building materials, windows…plumbing supplies…

I'm an independent who voted for Biden and Harris, but I don't understand why anyone is not insured or under-insured. That's part of owning property. If you can't afford to own it then you need to rent, or be willing to accept the loss. I honestly don't want to pay for people who will go on TV and say they've lived through multiple floods. If you're in a house that has flooded multiple times in a few years, then I shouldn't have to pay for your stupidity. If you're living in mountains where there can be fires, then that's on you. If a tornado comes though a takes out my house, It's on me to have the insurance and rebuild. I'm tired of paying other people's bills and especially if it's a poor MAGA person.

Everything is going to be expensive to rebuild, but the government shouldn't be funding the rebuild.

The government shouldn’t have bailed out the banks in 2008 either but they did. And honestly, a helluva lot more folks are going to be affected here than were affected back then. The government is gonna have to be ready to help individuals AND insurance companies (banks)..and things are gonna really be expensive for the next several years. Plus… let’s see what happens with deporting the illegals… there are a lot of “illegals” in the US who work as sub-contractors, and their loss could mean slower rebuilds and higher prices for their work.

I don't disagree but at some point people are going to get a huge dose of reality. The problem is, throwing money at it doesn't change anything, it just keeps more of the same.

We can maintain our current level of taxes, as long as we make significant spending cuts.

Spending at the overall 2019 level would be a good start.
What you gonna cut? There isn’t that much available “to cut”…How much “homelessness” are you willing to tolerate? Sully…if this was an “easy” solve, it would have been done decades ago. This is a difficult problem, this is why politicians don’t wanna touch it. If they solve the problem, 90% of them will be voted out of office next election.

Sure there is. There is waste in every department. At least 1/4 of the government workforce can be cut, which would result in a reduction of office space.

There can be changes in government pensions (401K) and healthcare (larger employer contributions), etc. Eliminate student loan forgiveness for everyone.

There can be more stringent guidelines for unemployment and disability. Foreign aid reduction. I could go on and on. There is waste everywhere.

Not sure why anyone is homeless as everyone is hiring. If a person truly wants to improve their lot in life they can easily do so.

However, it's much easier for them to grift off the working class.

Well, the over-employment is a common, but unproven argument. Have you had to deal with the IRS in the past 10 years? Stuff that could have been handled with a phone call and two weeks now often take 5 months to a year to resolve…. And I am talking SIMPLE issues like math errors or wrong forms…tge IRS is greatly understaffed and that under-staffing is political and intentionally and costs the United States $billions$?” Annually.

If the IRS agents aren’t productive, they should be fired. They need more accountability.

Mental illness is a pervasive problem across the nation. Abd buddy-boy, if you are familiar with mental illness, you know help is difficult to access and “hoop-jumping” is the norm to receive it.

It isn’t they are unproductive as much as they are overwhelmed. But Republicans love to underfund and understaff government offices so they can point out how “inefficient” the government is.
That is a “wash , rinse and repeat” mantra of basic Republican politics.

How many new insane asylums have we built in the U.S.? Russia leads the world in having the model to address mental illness, the U.S. would do well to incorporate some of the Russian treatments.

Sadly we won't lock crazy people up in this country we just medicate them and turn them loose on the general population.

Yet the jails and streets are full of mentally ill folks who have no where else to go.
