Funny how everybody thought he would be better than McNamara. He gives Lester a mobile QB for his RPO offense. Stratton has a heck of an arm and seems to be a solid backup.

Iowa needs to spend NIL on WR, DB, DT and maybe a LBer. OL is in pretty good shape. RB and TE also.

I'm not sure that Moss is the answer.

He was better than Mcnamara. Did you smoke some of that funny stuff this morning?

Sullivan, by his own words, is a runner who can throw "a little". I love the idea of him continuing to be the red zone QB but Moss would be a huge upgrade as a passer.

I'll be shocked if they decide to go forward with Sullivan as the every down guy.

What is your pitch to them in the living room?
If I'm Lester, my pitch is this:
1. Playing time
2. Most of the successful teams in the NFL are running the system he's running and very few colleges are running that system
3. He focused on the running game in year 1 and we ended up #1 in the conference and #10 in the country, with more 25+ running plays than any team in the country. Imagine what happens next year when he can now focus on a full pass game install.
4. We have a top 10 defense that can get you short fields and bail out mistakes.

I'm not sure what the OP is really implying here. Sullivan as the starter and Stratton as the backup next year? Or the other way around? Anyway, as I keep hearing from everyone on this board about the Big Ten is the only conference to be in and we have all the money, are you really comfortable w/these 2 guys moving forward as 1-2 next year? Because they are both extremely limited in what they can do. Even if we don't get Moss ( don't think the swarm has the money to do it) we will need a starting QB next year. I'm comfortable w/Sullivan as a red zone guy or even a situational guy but his main starting role at UCLA he was all over the field. We also lose a running back that made this offense look way better than it probably was, a guy who could take it to the house at any moment. The backups look to have some ability but nowhere near the home run ability. We need a legitimate QB.

I'm not sure what the answers are moving forward, who will be coming and who will be leaving, etc. But I am a heck of a lot more confident in the QB room and QB coach than I was from 2021-2023, so I'm going to let it all play out and hope for the best, instead of expecting (and getting) the worst.
Wish we had that confidence in the OL and WR coaching

My concern with any QB Iowa has is the OL. They did a much better job of run blocking, and looked even better with a guy who hit home runs every game vs singles and doubles.

But no matter who was behind center, when it was time to throw, no one had the time. Nearly every pass the QBs were running for their life.

We seemed to have abandoned any PA, even before Lester. It also doesn’t help we are still so predictable. 3rd and long….DL pin their ears back and CB know there’s next to no chance having a pass completed over the top

For Iowa to have any chance at a playoff, they have to figure out the OL and the forward pass

He was light years better than CM

He got hurt at UCLA and had an overall bad game. He had two amazing games prior to that. I will die on the hill that Iowa is a much better offense and upside with a Sullivan style QB than a pocket passer.
Sully is the best we have right now if he's healthy. But his numbers aren't very good. Before being injured, Sully was tenth in the big.

Yeah, I think he can get a better with a full year in the system and with Lester. He completed 63% of his passes at NW so that gives me hope he could kick that up a little bit here with a better supporting cast in general.

I stated earlier and wonder others opinion… the whole Cade starting an sully red zone package worked decent considering Cade was not good… So if by some miracle we land Moss or another premier QB, we need sully to stay for backup and possibly some packages to add a wrinkle.
Or you have to get someone with sullys skill set to have an offensive philosophy that works for all QBs on roster, the whole pro style and back up dual threat makes it hard to adjust in game if someone goes down…

Sullivan is much better than Cade. He is a good QB that got hurt against UCLA and had a bad game there. The rest of his services were very good.
Agreed - although the fact that he was not a star at Northwestern gives me cause for concern. Granted Northwestern is not the ideal program to spread your wings as a QB. I saw some good things in both Sully and Jackson, but I hope we also have some other QB options next season….😎
