Tariffs

Next OP will tell us how changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico is helping fight fent deaths.
I don't know why people still engage with him, he is fooled by trump's nonsense every single time.

Every time. I will say, I prefer the 'fooled' Trumper flavor compared to the 'cruelty is the point' variety.

we are still in a crisis, and I fully support us spending more time and money stopping the flow of drugs into Canada
Im skeptical of tariffs having an impact having any significant impact. Opioids are often called an epidemic of despair and if you kill the economy you might end up creating those conditions.

I think we would be better off focusing on the demand side. We need a lot of treatment programs. Prescription regulations have been helpful. I remember patients getting discharged with dispense quantities for round the clock oxy for a month. That isn't happening anymore.

oh come on, be honest, you respond to a possible drunk driver head on collision, you of coarse triage everyone, you are the only paramedic, you have 2 victims same injuries, one is 40 and smells like alcohol (you can smell it and you know you can) and an 8 year old in the other car, who are you devoting your time and resources to initially
Let amend your scenario to two 40 year olds with the same injuries. Introducing peds makes them completely different. In that scenario, I would favor neither of them. I’d do the best for both. Alcohol wouldn’t come
Into play.

So the 1.5 trillion dollars paid by you and me every year has no affect on you
Tariffs won't solve drug smuggling. End of story. FFS this isn't a difficult concept to grasp.

He's taxing us (tariffs) because he has to make up revenue after his irresponsible tax cut for the 1%. The timing is impeccable.

Seriously pull your head out of your ass.

This feels like the drug war the redux. It will fail worse than the first one and this time it will cause collateral damage to the rest of us.
I don’t think the drug war of the 80’s and 90’s was as deadly as it is today

1. Still is coming across the border, and China is not shipping fentanyl directly to the United States it is shipping the chemicals to make them and the majority is going to the Mexican Cartels
2. No sh:;
3. In 2020 the crisis cost 1.5 trillion dollars what do you think it is today
Please post links with evidence that in 2020 the fentanyl crisis cost 1.5 trillion and who did it cost?

I was just going to write about the abysmal failure of the war on drugs. But like COVID and war, Trump is just going to wave his magical tariff wand and it will all quickly disappear.
The first big problem with the war on drugs was sentencing casual pot smokers not holding much dope to fairly long jail time. Gov Rockefeller of NY and later as VP really pushed for the big time prison sentences. A lot of young people went to prison, had a felony record, learned a lot of bad shit in prison, etc

So we just legalized all drugs, 2 911 calls come in there is only one ambulance, one is for a 49 year old overdose and the other is for a 32 year old with anaphylaxis. Who gets the paramedic?
The first one that called. How about the gunshot victim versus a diabetic induced heart attack?

Am I the only one that's noticed that there are no other numpties that have entered the discussion or come to the defense of RNHawk?

I think there's an obvious reason for that...

Why is it that the same liberals that speak out and fret about the inflationary pressure tariffs may exert don't give a rats tail about the exact same effect their desired increases on corporate tax rates would cause? “Corporations need to pay their fair share!”

I'd say the same about the the unfair trade practices other countries to to impose on American consumers. “China needs to pay its fair share!”

Hint: it has to do with who the President is.

And you know for a fact that I don’t care, I have said as much to you

Thats fine. I have decided that I want to get folks off different political persuasions to come together. I won't stop insulting Trump b/c I believe he is evil. But the GOP needs and get back to being normal again.

Ask yourself why are these drugs in such high demand in our society. We live in a society that values money and things over everything else, are worked to the bone and told we have to live and act a particular way. This is no coincidence that we have the highest drug overdose of any society.
