With staggering demand for her 50 date concert tour, Ticketmaster put the brakes on sales before the vast majority of the public had an opportunity to buy a ticket. Secondary markets are now pushing individual ticket up into the $20,000 range.
Members of Congress and multiple state AGs are now promising to break up the monopoly Ticketmaster holds over concert sales. It's a pretty diverse group from AOC, Amy Klobuchar, Mike Lee and the AG of Tennessee.

PJ fought the good fight…and lost. At least they were able to compromise and keep the prices low for fan club members. TM sucks. Stopped going to concerts because of the BS of buying a ticket.

I observed this from a distance as my wife and daughter were unable to get tickets through the verified fan process, then in the Capital One presale. Then they canceled the general public sale today. The whole process seemed jacked up.

They ended up buying resale tickets from VividSeats at the end of it.

You gotta wonder why Ticketmaster kept pushing for these extreme prices? I get profit, but they know fully well that they have virtually no competition and that they are under risk of being broken up. It's like they were daring to be declared a monopoly.

I think it's sort of like what FIFA did with the World Cup. You get so used to just doing whatever you want that one day you take it a step too far.

Just so I have this right, people WANT to go to her concert?

Why do people not realize that not all music is ment to be marketed towards them?

Look if a adult dude was going to a Taylor Swift concert on his own I would think that dude's a little weird. Because Taylor Swift doesn't make music for middle aged adult men.

Just like not every TV show or movie is marketed towards middle aged adult men, not every musician is marketed towards them either.

Copying my post from the other thread.

The whole lottery, advanced wait list, etc. has become a dadgum fiasco? My no pics daughter has been planning to see her and was unable to get tickets. She's like, "Dad, it's easier to purchase a gun than Taylor Swift tickets!"

Despite Taylor's best effort to prevent scalpers from getting tickets, here we are. Tickets being sold for thousands of dollars while my kiddo sits at home. She's a teacher and can't afford $2K+ for 2 tickets.

I think it was just extreme demand. Pretty sure the insane prices are on the resale market.

My biggest complaint are:

1) usually most seats, especially good ones are near impossible for the average person to get.

2) Ticketmaster fees are just plain dumb. What, exactly, am I paying 50% if the ticket cost for?

3) Ticketmaster gets extra fees if they sell to scalpers/resellers as the same ticket goes through their system more than once.

Taylor’s best efforts? Come on. She’s getting paid off of this.

BTS tried to go around TM with their own sales to fans only. They cut out credit card companies and stadium employees. They even cancelled some sales for tickets that immediately went up on secondary markets. They didn’t beat TM, but they did a hell of a lot better than Taylor Swift.

I don’t have daughters and don’t have TS on my concert to-do list, but she is pretty talented and has some really good music.

Does ticketmaster dump tickets straight on its own secondary market prior to offering them to the public first? It's their right to do so imo, but i think it's fair for the public to know

To those making smart comments about Taylor Swift tickets... you're missing the point. TM is a monopoly that charges a bunch of fees and favors resellers because they make even more of those sales. Doesn't matter if it's NFL, NBA, MLS, Garth Brooks, Bruno Mars, Rhianna, etc... the game is rigged and we are all paying for it.

Hotel rooms are ridiculous. I secured one a week ago for the girls and now rooms are $400+ a night
You do realize they can cancel your reservation and give it to someone else if room rates get extremely high?
