Tempering Expectations

I am, at least.

Iowa, when they had all of their pieces, were a legitimate Top 20, maybe even Top 15 team this year. With all of the injuries and illnesses, even with all of the equity built up in the non con, I wouldn’t be surprised if this team simply wears down and lands on the wrong side of the bubble.

Now, even with that being said, this is still my favorite team, by far, of the Fran era. A really gritty team that refuses to quit. And we have 2 all conference(Garza will be an all American as well) players who are super fun to watch.

Maybe I’m growing up a little(definitely getting older) but the wins and losses are secondary to watching these guys compete and leave it all out on the floor. I’m going to enjoy the rest of the season regardless of how things play out.

Rutgers hammering Penn St.

A) PSU actually not that good
B) Rutgers just REALLY good
C) Iowa just not that good
or
D) Home court simply that much of an advantage

It's useless to make judgements on a 1 game same size. See Kentucky vs Evansville.

Rutgers is obviously a solid team at 12-3. They blew Seton Hall out, beat Wisconsin and now beat PSU.

Yeah Seton Hall has beaten some pretty good teams, too.

Looks like Rutgers bball might just have their s**t together this year.

Iowa diffidently finishing in the bottom of the league now that we have no 3 point shooters to stop the double and triple teaming of Garzilla, Oh well, maybe someday Iowa will catch a break and finish in the upper have of the Big Ten again. Even next year is not a given with Frannie in charge...

How is Fran responsible for the injuries this year? FFS, this was a really good team that Fran assembled before the injury/illness bug hit.

Iowa was never going to be a consistent top 20 team, even with everyone healthy.

I thought they were a borderline tourney team before the season, a probable tourney team when they had it rolling, and a borderline tourney team at present. My expectations have stayed fairly consistent.

Lost too many horses at this point.
Until CJ can get back they will likely not win a game.

All the injuries are too much to overcome.

if JoBo, Nunge and CJF are playing we are a tourney team.

without? NIT at best.

Losing to Nebraska is still inexecusable.

Had a lot of bad turnovers down the stretch. No poise whatsoever.

There's still a lot of season left. It's possible, though, Iowa is hitting their mid-to-late season collapse earlier than normal.

Go ahead and just figure every road game the rest ofthe season will be a loss. And every other home game will be a loss. The lack of a PG is still a problem and will always be a problem under Fran.

This is a bad, bad, bad loss.

Injuries and illness are not excuses. Iowa should still beat this horrible Nebraska team.

At this rate, they can kiss even the NIT goodbye.

Pathetic effort, terrible loss.

Settle down. A Q2 loss isn’t bad bad bad.

Losing at home, to a 1-9 team, that never had a P5 victory before, is a bad bad bad loss. A little perspective here. :)
