This is about the dumbest PC story I've read by far.

I get fried chicken is somehow "racist" to the blacks, but since when did conconut and pineapple hit that list?
This has always confused me I am as white as can be and I love fried chicken and watermelon.
I don't get chicken/watermelon at all. My racism toward black people is not based on dietary preferences. When it comes to dietary preferences, my prejudices are reserved for Jews and Muslims.

Two high school bands have a tradition of exchanging gifts with each other. This year, one band gave the other Halloween candy in watermelon, coconut and pineapple flavors. The school administration determined the candy was "racist"...

The article was really poorly-written regarding the actual content of the plastic jack-o-lanterns.
White people need to step up our game with regard to stereotypes. We've spent half a millenium enslaving, oppressing, and discriminating against black people. But for some reason the best we can do at stereotyping them is they have big dicks, they're really good at sports, and they like fried chicken and watermelon.

Calling a plastic pumpkin full of candy a “fruit basket,” sounds like something that fat-ass Alex Jones would do.
Not that it changes my opinion of this being a complete joke - but according to the article it was actual fruit.

I have not and it wouldn't surprise me if it was intentional to get a little coverage. Still curious as who actually lauded the complaint.
Why is no one suspending the gift receivers for being bad bottoms, I mean receivers?
I'm not racist toward black people, it was a joke. But I really don't get how the chicken/watermelon thing became a stereotype about black people. I've known a lot of white people in my life, and most have been known to eat chicken and watermelon.

I think they did a little extra writing over the summer this time around. Just fantastic so far this year.
I definitely agree, especially how things are building on each other the way they are.
Maybe they should have put some monkey nuts in the basket, and removed the watermelon candy.
The saddest thing out of all of this? The students were automatically guilty. They said they meant nothing by it, and were upset that anyone would make anything out of it.........and they were still suspended.
Not only that, but once they returned they would apparently not be allowed to return to the high school band.
