Not saying the kid knowingly and willfully lied to you but that's not true. A QB being the second fasted kid on the team would be all over the message boards and this is the first I've heard of it. While CJB has some good feet it's not like he's out there running away from DE's and LB's.
Sure ya did Uncle Rico. Ezekiel Elliot runs a 4.47. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you weren't as fast as him.
I ran a 6.70, and I never.........ah, who I am kidding, I never saw the field. Anyone need water?
I don't know that it would necessarily be all over the Internet. If I recall correctly, it was some sort of sprint drill he came in second on in a practice. I will grant you that my cousin's kid could have over-dramatized it, and in hindsight declaring he was the 2nd fastest on the team at one point was probably a stupid declaration on my part.
However, my point in stating that originally was to show that CJ Beathard is a lot faster than most people realize. There's also a difference between having speed and having football speed. I'd really be interested in seeing how fast he actually is when 100% healthy.
I think we'll find out at next years NFL combine. CJ has definitely been one of our more fleet footed QB's.
I live about 20 miles south of Belton, TX. Belton has a population of about 20,000 people and the high school has 2,600 students. I am not sure about this, but i think they play in the second level of high school football in Texas, which is still a good brand of HS ball. If he commits, I will traveling up I-35 the 20 miles to watch him play this fall.
