I would like to thank the players, coaches and staff for all their sacrifice this year. The 2020-21 season will go down as one of our best. Who will forget Luka's chase to being Iowa's all-time scoring leader, Jordan setting the assist record, Joe's step-back threes from beyond the arc, Connor's pinpoint passing, CJ's shooting and defense before the injury slowed him down? We all felt devastated by Jack's injury but the future is bright with his return next year, Keagan's blocks and rebounding, Patrick's energy, Joe's defense and pace, Tony's defense and tenacity and last but not least Ahron's smooth guard play.

In a time when all Iowans are suffering, I can say that the excitement you brought each night of basketball was a blessing. You brave warriors went forth on bitterly cold nights, during a pandemic, to provide a release for the elderly in nursing homes, who's confinement has been mentally trying and debilitating. You brought pride back to Iowa basketball for millions of Hawk families huddled in their comfy homes around the TV.

I know you are disappointed now, but you shouldn't be. Hold your heads high young men, in our eyes you are champions.

it's Great to be a Hawkeye!

I could not agree more. This team had the confidence and courage to set challenging goals, put it out for all to see and then get after it! Luka was, well Luka, but every player on this team represented the program in a very positive way. I am happy for what they accomplished and grateful for the many good times! For those players that move on thanks for your sacrifice, for those that return- do it again, your own way!

OP well said.

Let’s not forget the dedication of the entire team and coaching staff in avoiding the COVID. I am certain this involved a daily restraint for both players and coaches, essentially putting their lives outside basketball on hold for the last four months. The team’s discipline demonstrated they were all-in to make this a special year for Hawkeye nation. Although we as fans are very disappointed in how the season came to an abrupt end, these kids have to be completely devastated. I take what I can get from Hawkeye basketball, no more and no less. The pleasure of watching this bunch provided me and my family a true high during one of the bleakest winters I can recall.

Luka and JBO, there are no words... best to you both.

Great to be a Hawkeye!

It definitely won’t go down as one of the best, but the rest of what you said is commendable.

Thank you for that post Gunner. I couldn’t be more proud of these Hawks. They represented the UofI and the state with great effort and were always a class act on and off the court. Luka has left an example of how hard work can pay off. We may not be happy with how the end of the season played out but we cant discount the efforts and accomplishments of this exceptional group of Hawks!

No doubt sacrifices were made , but lets not forget that 7 or 8 players had it back in the summer, so that may have helped. Jbo went on in one of his infamous pod casts about how sick he was.
