thank you seniors

Well said. We all knew there were going to be some growing pains. Hopefully we see continued growth.

Agreed. Huge appreciation for the seniors. Somewhat relieved it's all over simply because it was tough to see them unravel. This season sure had its ups and downs with plenty to complain about. Here's to better seasons ahead!

Yes, very appreciative of the efforts and their behavior while here. Exemplary. And they did enjoy what I would term moderate success. They raised the program from the ashes, and for that I will always be thankful.

But...in the end I honestly don't think any of the 4 really are Fran types of players. Fran back then absolutely had to get guys like Woody and Gesell just to placate the "can't keep in-state talent home" line of thinking. He also needed bodies, guys that wanted to come to Iowa.

But in the end, I suspect they really were MVC talent as a group.

I do feel bad for the kids and their families, they always played hard and though they lacked some of the talent of their competition they made most games close and game us some real hope early in the season. Move on and get some help and we can't have any more blow out recruiting years like Joks. We got no help for the Seniors in the way of a top recruit.

Agree we should thank our seniors, wasn't that long ago the Hawkeyes basketball season was over in January not March. I think there will be better days for the Iowa basketball program.

I completely agree with these thoughts... hope Fran has the players that fit into the system he wants to run going forward.

Agree with everything you said except for the last sentence. ...they are high level players in the wrong system.

That's what makes the future so intriguing. ..we have a different type of roster going forward and I will enjoy watching everything develop.

Very excited for next year cause the looks of the roster it's going to be a bunch of 6'4" to 6'7" guys who can run run run. As far as playing styles, they might fit better. Interchangeable, faster paced, spread the court and slash or kick for 3's - which is an awful lot like what we're seeing in most good teams nowadays.

Attack Basketball. All 40 minutes.

Next year might be brutal, but in the long run I think it's best.

I believe the days of grind it out power basketball at the major college level is going the way of the dodo because of the 3 point shot and 30 second clock. You can still have power guys, but they damn well better be able to handle the ball, run the court, and have stretch range. All 5 guys must be able to shoot and handle the ball, and it's best to have 9-10 of those guys you can play every game to keep the pace up for a full 40.

Sure sounds like Fred Hoiberg type basketball to me. Except without the "by design oasis in the ocean discard type roster management".
