Just like to thank the posters on HR for some good info and making this year tolerable. I would especially like to thank WRESTLESTATS and HAWKTALK3 for their informational websites. A couple thanks to those who did PBP because I work evenings and it was difficult to catch stuff live.

And especially VALLHOLL for his great fictional PBP during slow periods. A good laugh goes a long ways when life is giving you the shits! Thanks again everyone

BTW Hawktalk3, you spell predictions like this: PREDICTIONS!

Yeah, the PBP guys are great. I don't really need to refer to it much, but it's sure great to have when you do! I've tried a time or two in the past, and there is a bit of a hassle to it for sure, so kudo's to those that are willing to sacrifice for the "greater good".

And the other gentlemen do a fine job as well, along with others. All valuable and entertaining resources.

I keep seeing these "thank you" threads and I want to join in and thank everyone for a great year.

For me, it started with a declaration that Sorensen would win the Midlands (Spoons, I believe) when to a discussion about black and gold tube sock discussion that ended with WWDM stating "living in your parents' basement is for losers, I live above the garage". There was 9 pages / 400 posts on Grothus' cut to 141 that was a daily read for two weeks.

The rest of the year was filled with great information, debate, and a lot of fun. The fun part probably was self motivation for the Thursday Night "Maryland Dual PBP". casey-I'm glad you enjoyed it.

For me, the lineup thread that morphed into a crazy lineup thread that included "The Easter Bunny" complete with EB video and debate on whether EB can cut to 165 has to be the best. Every now and then I see "EB" in a thread and smile. I think Mike T missed it and is worried that EB is the mysterious Russian wrestler that is always rumored to be transferring in.

Quick final thought. 17 year-old, Vallholl Jr. and I headed back from STL last Saturday at 1 PM. Arriving home, he had managed to schedule evening plans with his buddies but before he left, he stopped at the door and said, "Even though Iowa lost, I had a good time (at the NCAAs)." And I thought of Chief. AZ, I hope that your dad enjoyed his NCAAs and time with his son (and I hope the son thanked the dad for taking him, even if the son is in his 40s)

I've got to go now and figure out how Eric DeVos can cut down to 141...

I'll bump this uplifting thread -- I think this board could use a few of these.

Cheers to all of you wrestling fans -- Hawk fans and respectful visitors included.

We had some interesting topics and discussions.
Thanks to all of you for the past year.

Special thanks to Arz chief for helping me out for a dual meet.

Can't wait for next year and see how much Hawks can improve.

So who wants to retroactively do grades for all dual meets going back to Gable's first season? It would be a great project until fall practice begins!

Agree with the thanks to all.

I don't post much, but this is a daily read for me. Usually get through most posts until they get overly negative or too OT (see Pucillo thread).

Yes. Always good on HR. Laughs, good info., debates, visiting trolls, and us bipolar Hawk fans. And, of course, Kwoodhawk

I thought about a poll for "Thread of the year" but there were far too many but as VALLHOLL mentioned the top 3 for me were: 1. Grothus to 141 -- Wow it was over 7 pages 2. Easter Bunny cutting to 165(the pic of EB coming off the turnbuckle was awesome) 3. Thursday PBP of Maryland/IOWA by VALLHOLL(my wife laughed at this one and she hates wrestling)

It has been a truly fun year even if we are still waiting for tOSU to get stripped of their championship for not tipping the hotel staff.

I love this. In the past I had "caught" some hawk wrestling on TV on a Sunday when I was perusing through the channels. But, without my knowledge of wrestling I could only appreciate the athleticism of those amazing guys. But I didn't really fully understand what was happening. Fast forward to this season....I had sstark46 and rival_me to start answering my million questions (the two friends I know who are diehard wrestling fans) and I was excited to actually get to Carver for live meets (Meyer was my first live pin and being in Carver for a pin is the most incredible experience!). It didn't take long to completely fall in love and dive into the obsession of Hawkeye Wrestling. I started visiting the board to learn more and MOST IMPORTANTLY read the PBPs of the meets I didn't get a chance to go to (I became a Vallholl fan immediately).
And, now after a full season of immersing myself in reading threads, watching meets, attending amazing LIVE meets at Carver and talking wrestling with those guys I know IRL.....I am feeling the pang of sadness that the season is over and we have 8 more months before another.
sstark46 tried to cheer me by letting me know....there will still be plenty of things to read and talk about as recruiting continues and Worlds approaches.

You guys are awesome. I learn everytime I come to the board.
Thanks for taking this newbie female in stride......

Glad to see this thread pop up. I was struggling to find a good Iowa Wrestling message board as the site that I frequented in the past, had gone to crap. I was in China for business for two weeks and was going to miss the Iowa/Minnesota dual. I was looking for a place to follow the dual and I stumbled about this board. Thanks for keeping me in the loop while I was half a world away.

Hey thanks for reading, and thanks for the consructive criticism. Sounds like a major fail on my end. That's why I have guys like you and Kwood, to keep me honest!

Looking forward to a good weeek of AGON content. Tony has a bunch of interviews coming out this week.

That really will be a crazy lineup, since DeVos isn't on the roster anymore ...

Glad you could enjoy it with your son as well Vall. We had a great time and enjoyed the tournament. We kept it low key between sessions so my Dad could get some rest. We did get to Ballpark Village though and he thoroughly enjoyed that. Always good to be amongst your people (Cardinal Nation). Would have liked to have seen Iowa get it but oh well...just seeing the Hawks live was a treat.

Now let's just hope many of the "new" posters that have been on here the last few weeks go away.
