The Badgers, mad or deflated

1) mad
2) understand the importance
3) demonstrated understanding of Iowa’s offense

The key is how much BF (or hell, it is really KF isn’t it) adjusts and if the Badgers are already anticipating the adjustments.

BYU may be a pretty good team, their only L came to a 3-0 Cal who may be a pretty good team too.. At any rate, no matter how you look at it wisky is down due to getting beat by an unraked team.. so they are vulnerable.. I hope Iowa comes out swinging Saturday night because I know wisky will be pumped up to jump on Iowa early to try to take the crowd out.. but if Iowa comes out swinging and gets the crowd going and jumps on wisky quick, could be a long night and 2 L’s real early for Bucky!

I see a lot of people on the board who suddenly think that because Wisconsin lost we are suddenly overwhelming favorites and are going to steamroll to an easy victory.

Wisconsin is still an excellent team and it will, or should be a close hard fought game. Fans who think otherwise are delusional, and I don't see Wisconsin imploding and suddenly sucking complete ass.

If we win it'll be by 1-3points. BYU was what Iowa hoped to do to them. No the surprise is over. I'm still worried about our WR's. They won't get what they did against UNI. If the wr's can get passes caught between 8-15 yards we might win. I can't see us getting many yards throwing to our wr's at the LOS expecting to win that battle. We need our wr's etc. to get to the 1st marker always so that when it is thrown and caught with the tackle right away it is 1st down no matter what. If we throw behind the LOS or 1st down marker it will not be good.

"If" Iowa can put together a clean penalty free game where the players execute, and Stanley's accuracy issues of throwing behind or at the feet of receivers isn't a major issue I think Iowa has a very good chance. You add the noise level and atmosphere and it could be a sweet game.

I firmly believe if Iowa plays like they did against Ohio State, i.e "nobody expects us to win so F it" and the players aren't afraid to make mistakes, we could see a nice victory. Either way we'll know how good this years team really is.

Yes we absolutely need to get after the badgers from the jump. Whatever mojo we had against OSU last year is what we need Saturday night. No holds barred. Byu had a strong DL and so do we. Shut down TYlor the way we shut down Montgomery! I believe Wisconsin will be ready to go after the loss, but we can deflate them with an expert offensive gameplan and execution and our STOUT defense.

I see the opposite. Everyone is mad they lost because they won’t be as highly ranked and are afraid we can’t beat them unless we are big underdogs. Who gives a crap about rankings, it’s a night game at home against a big ten west rival.

I don't care about rankings, but a lot of people are absolutely insane if they think Wisconsin is suddenly going to curl up in the fetal position, or that it will be a blow out where Iowa cruises to an easy win.
I don't think anybody thinks that. I do think that some chinks have been exposed in their armour in the early part of the season, and that they are aware of that as well. I said earlier that I could see this game going much like PSU last season. Make them work for every inch, especially in the red zone, and be opportunistic on offense. 21-13 good guys, under the lights at Kinnick......

This is the point where BF earns his paycheck and lays claim to his right as the heir apparent. We catch Wisky at the perfect time - they're coming off a tough loss, look vulnerable and will be coming into a hostile environment for their first road game of the year. Iowa needs to go for the kill, and the offensive game plan will be the key to victory.

It never matters about the opponent. It only matters about Iowa, which is all the Hawkeyes can control. Come out like they did against OSU last year, aggressively playing to win, and I think the Hawkeyes and an insane bunch of fans filling Kinnick Stadium will result in a solid Iowa victory, one that is long overdue.

I thought someone said the way early Line was 10.5 Wisconsin. Obviously that will go down, but they will still be favored or should be.

BYU may not be at their best currently, but they're a good Football Program and have been for a long time.

Wasn't like they lost to NDSU at Home.......

We need to get on them early, which we clearly struggle doing for the most part. Most of Iowa's games are close against Bucky, I suspect this one will be too. Hopefully we come out on the right end of it.

The road to the B1G CCG has and still runs through Madison. I know we hate to acknowledge it but Wisconsin has long since overtaken Iowa as the bullies of the B1G. Iowa had a great 3 year run 2002-2004 and then 2009 and 2015 but Wisconsin has now had a very successful and sustained run starting in 2005 with 10+ win seasons in 9/13 seasons and 4 in a row.

0-0 in the BigTen, I don’t think they give a rip. That game’s over and they still have the season to play for

This is our most important game in some time. I fully expect a win would translate to a West title- based on winning the tiebreaker with WI- and shot at the CCG.

Hopefully there team thinks as there fans do, that Iowa isn't very good. I have poked around a couple of there Forums and it appears they think we haven't played anyone. Funny how NIU (who is supposed to compete for the MAC) and Iowa State (who was picked to beat us) are nobody while Western Kentucky and New Mexico are someone. BYU is the only decent team the Badgers have faced, and Iowa will be the second. If we can stuff the run and put the game on Hornibrook, I like our chances, even if we don't light the offensive world on fire. They win when they keep it close and wear the defense out in the fourth quarter, but we have good defensive depth so we shouldn't get worn out. We win when we play consistent on offense, so we shall see what transpires Saturday.

I feel just the opposite. I hated seeing them lose because I feel that will get them refocused and play with a sense of urgency. I fear BYU just made our game against Sconnie a lot tougher!

Yeah Wisconsin no longer has any margin for error. They’re going to come out trying to make a statement. I’m not particularly confident about this one. Hopefully Iowa tries to get Fant involved early and often

Not sure about that, but if you're looking for a reason to be paranoid, that one's as good as any! ;)

They gotta show up and play, once the game gets going, they won't be thinking about BYU. If they play better than Iowa, they'll likely win. Sometimes it is just that simple.

And BYU was something like 4-9 last year so they can’t even pound their chest on that one

The Badgers will be mad. Our Offense needs to find a way to score some points. Josh Jackson is with the Packers. Hopefully I am wrong, but I see no reason to believe we will solve their 3-4.

Did you watch the BYU game? Wisky's defense looked nothing like it has the last several years. BYU solved that defense pretty well after the coaching staff spent the last year figuring it out. Rubik's cube is tough to solve. Wisconsin's defense not so much, despite what Iowa has made it look like lately. And there's no excuse for Iowa failing on offense Saturday night. None. Ask BYU.

I do think the Badgers know they are on thin ice and need to win out plus have a convincing win over PSU/OSU to have even a shot at the playoffs. The Big Ten West has been a train wreck outside of three teams. I do believe they will be motivated and ready to play.

But... what gives me optimism is that early on in the New Mexico game I was starting to scratch my head at some of the plays New Mexico was able to make. The d line wasn't getting much pressure and they even allowed some runs. I thought, no big deal its just week 2.

Yesterday, BYU had a great push with their o lineman. The defense looked a little suspect in the secondary as well. More importantly, when you eliminate the rushing attack, Hornibrook struggles. He targets his tight ends as much as we do and wasn't able to find his wide outs. Like others have pointed out, they aren't invincible but Iowa has to expose the weaknesses.

I was surprised to learn they had the longest non-con winning streak in the nation. Mad or deflated I see a payback W

Yeah, even Dinardo on BTN is saying that other teams will use what BYU did as a possible blue print to beating Bucky's defense.

I think just the opposite. Their confidence is shaken. It’s not like they lost in Provo.

Now they have to come to Iowa City. They know Iowa’s a better team than BYU.

I think we kick their ass, they are marked after the bs last year.
31-14 Hawks.
They are going down, our d looks great and they are playing swarming, batshit crazy like we’ve seen in the past, offense was embarrassed last year, it’s a night game. Punishment is coming!
Going to be ugly for Whisk.

I'm a life-long Hawkeye fan...grew up in Iowa City, now living in Wisconsin. The expectations for the Badgers are pretty high up here. I think they will be more motivated by their loss than deflated. Iowa will need to play well to beat them. And the Iowa fans will have a contribution to a victory. Get loud Hawkeyes.
