Even the nyt has reported up to 90% of positive test ‘cases’ are bogus false-positives. Much of this is a manufactured crisis exploiting elderly co-morbidity vulnerabilities and faulty ‘testing’for hysteria.
I still like the PSU dr who talked about the heart issues. Media ran with it and then it was proven totally false - not by cnn, nyt, wapo, etc.
Football scoop broke the story. Somehow the msm missed it and the guy still has a job.

So the President’s decide not to play, causing untold damage to their athletic departments - lost sports, jobs, and economic destruction within their communities.

Do they even feel the effects of their decision? Haven’t heard if they must take deep pay cuts or possibly job loses within their departments. They need to feel the effects of their decision too.

They will all keep their do-nothing jobs.

Looks like CNN actually DID update the story.
As did the Washington Post.

Not the point.
They do zero checking if it matches their narrative or cause. Mistakes are buried if covered at all.
Some dork at football scoop makes a few calls and finds out the whole story is wrong.

So death rates are 10x higher than thought?????

Should be former Penn St doctor.

There are some University Presidents who do not like sports.
They despise the attention and money invested in college
football and basketball. Now they have their opportunity
to throw a monkey wrench in college sports.

Advise and protect the old. Tell the fat to mix in a salad and lets get on with life.

If you look at the interview with the Rutgers president, it sure doesn’t seem like he even gets why it’s a big deal. He made some comments about how he would rather err on the side of caution with the virus, etc. He even said it was a fairly easy decision for him to make. No mention at all about weighing the pros and cons, although he did mention that he knew for some other presidents they are facing pressure to play, presumably because their fans love football more than Rutgers fans.

They got the shock value they wanted with wall to wall coverage of the initial report.

University presidents fall into 3 categories. The president who views Athletics as their greatest advertisement for the University. The president who doesn't care either way about Athletics and just let them do their thing. The president who despise Athletics and if given the opportunity will make life hard on the athletic department.

You hope for the president who has a hands off policy. If you got a president who views athletics an advertisement you consider yourself lucky. But at many places you get the I hate athletics person. If Sally Mason was still in charge Iowa the vote would have been 12-2.

It’s only a game folks, College presidents are only in place to do one thing and that is to advance academics through their University by attracting the best students and supporting them with the best faculty and in doing so enhance the overall reputation of the University through research and development. And that is what they should do .

Athletics should never be in a positon to take away or detract from the overall mission of the University . So College spirts although a great part of student life should and will take a back seat especially when you have a pandemic in hand

Nice pulpit. How are athletics in this case detracting from the core mission of the University?

Hundreds of thousands of kids in campuses living in dorms within the Big Ten including the athletes but the most dangerous thing is a small percentage of the student population playing sports.

Once again get off your high horse you smug pos.

The taxpayers that fund this mission overwhelmingly want to play sports.
