There is a lot more to the story than cops making the decision to shoot or not to shoot. A lot of that response depends on the actions of the individual they are apprehending.

The truth is always somewhere in the middle. Having said that, I am greatly disturbed by the heavier handed tactics that our police forces are using nowadays.

Your knowledge of Chicago is incredibly poor. Detroit and Baltimore are one industry towns. Chicago is home of 1/5 of the largest companies in the country. Some of the cps schools are among the best in the country, obviously some are among the worst too but many are better than any public school in Iowa. There are many good neighborhoods in Chicago, some with less crime than Iowa and and full of multimillion dollar homes.

You should stick to commenting on what you have actual knowledge about, not sure what that would be but...

Well he did say he used to live there. San Fran and the bay area are beautiful areas to be sure, but they are crowded, the people are F-wads, it takes forever to get anywhere, and the weather is almost too perfect.

That being said it is physically one of the most beautiful regions in the US. Santa Cruz, San Jose, are both close as well. Love both those cities. Los Gatos is a cool little city right around there too.

I lived there for a few years myself by the way.

Ya Chicago kicked out a lot of the black people that lived there and made them everyone else's problem. Waterloo, CR, Iowa City, Dubuque, Quad Cities are all infested with people who just want a nicer place to grow up in for them and their children and all the boyfriends. Great people that add diversity and culture to our communities.

Seattle, San Francisco and Portland owe much of their success to location and current role in economy in the high tech sector. There's not much of a presence when it comes to unions in those cities.

SF and NYC have the two highest gaps between the rich and poor in the U.S. NYC has a union and bureaucracy problem but it's the center for world finance and old money in the U.S. so perceptions may be skewed when it comes to NYC.
