Have you seen it?
He is calm, reserved, certainly no Brad Underwood finger pointing.
He seemed almost baffled. As though he suddenly realizes he doesn't have what he thought he had, and that now it starts to get difficult each time out.
Maybe disappointed rather than baffled.

I wish he'd leave. He just accomplished something unheard of.

Keep on hoping.

As for myself, I have zero expectations of any changes on the coaching front until the incompetent AD is out.
This is where it begins and ends.

The contract extension for Kirk was head scratching, but at least Kirk has top ten finishes and big bowl wins to his credit. The one to Fran was beyond the pale. Fran hasn’t won shit (outside of a BTT championship which Alfraud won a couple times).

Barta is a spineless weasel.

Fran has gone from a hands in his pockets calm coach for the first few weeks of the season to looking like he was trying to give himself a brain aneurysm while appearing to want to fight an official(s).....to now losing a game in which they were a 30 plus point favorite.

For a guy who has a hard time controlling his on court behavior....this can't be good.

I’ve already said my piece about how badly Fran mismanaged Joe T. Joe T had the shortest leash in all of college basketball and played panicked every time he was on the court because of it.
I remember that now. I couldn't remember who else was on board with Joe should get more minutes with me. The short leash just baffled me. He was the best on ball defender we had... by miles. He turned the ball over but I would be curious to see how many other turnovers he created on defense.

I do miss that guy.

Joe T played well toward the end of his freshman year. The guy had the best on-ball defense on the team. His regression was mental, and I blame Fran for that.

Quickest way to get into Fran's doghouse is to play defense.
It sure as hell seems that way. 😝

I still can’t believe Iowa yielded 92 points to Eastern frickin Illinois. I don’t care who is injured. There’s no excuse for being that disinterested in defense.

Regardless, Iowa will rebound from that shit show and have their normal ho hum success in the B1G Ten, but last night sealed the deal for me as far as wanting Fran gone is concerned. Fran will just never prioritize defense to the degree that is needed to reach that ever elusive next level of success. Iowa needs to part ways with Fran and hit the reset button.

Oh, he gives a shit.

Defense is just not a priority for Fran, so the results will continue to be what they are. Until Fran is able to get more brothas on the team who can actually ball, his system is not going to work.

Ur right id definitely turn down Garza and Whiteyfor few more Ulis and Ogundele lmao

Come on now... the guy cares. You can say what you want about his tactics or recruiting but he is certainly invested.
But I would counter by saying that the standard at Iowa has been established:

Get into the NCAA tourney every could years, keep your nose clean during your tenure, and it's considered good.

That's not a theory- that's reality based on Fran's 13 year results here. Iowa has never even made a Sweet 16 yet his approval rating among Iowa fans has likely never been higher. He understands this.

That won't change anything.

The lack of defense is a culture problem.

Fran couldn't get Tyler Cook to play any defense in 3 years.

The problem was that Joe T was everything JBlow wasn't EXCEPT as a shooter.

It’s crazy you or GoHox don’t think Fran feels pressure. Fran’s a fierce competitor. You can critique his philosophy but you can’t critique his desire to win.
He’s in his 13th year at Iowa and has never even gotten Iowa to a Sweet 16 but still has his job. You think he feels pressure? 😂😂

Who else in the Big 10 keeps him in this scenario? Answer: only one school and he works for them.
