Is Kemerer one of them?
If Mejia stays committed to Iowa I think he will be a "horse"
So will Marinelli, who is probably the best of the current commits. I would love to get White or Suriano to add to Marinelli's class. 3 "horses" in one class. It's what we need. We will finish 2nd to an Ohio State team that has Tomosello, Jordan, and Snyder for 3 more years.
Is Snyder a true freshman?
If we redshirt Kemerer can we start Marinelli right out of the gates and hope for him to have a year similar to any of the Ohio State freshman?

Ohio St. will be a worse tourney team next year than they are this year and Iowa will be a better one.

Penn st is going to be the class of the field next year though.

How so? Obviously they lose Stieber but Hunter should be healthy and more of a threat to score points. They lose Demas, who didn't do much anyway, and replace him with the younger Jordan. They will have several legit title contenders in their roster. PSU will probably be even tougher. This was Iowa's year to win it and they crapped the bed.

I believe Snyder went to the OTC for a year (actually what would have been his Senior year of High School I believe), then came in and wrestled right away. So he is a True Freshman collegiately.

He went 179-0 with 3 State Titles in Maryland and won all the big East Coast tournaments. Gave up 1 takedown in High School. One takedown, yowser! #1 overall recruit for good reason I guess.

Ohio State has only two seniors and isn't going anywhere. If Hunter can get healthy they are favored to repeat.

PSU will be much improved but I'm not ready to anoint them. They have to prove it. The guys waiting in the wings are good but none are Ruth or Taylor.

For Iowa, we return 5 AAs so we are in the conversation. What happens in the offseason with this 5 and the other 5 filling in will determine how high we go. Will they be on the mat? We have not done a lot of offseason wrestling in recent years. We have also not been adding strength. Lots of questions in Iowa City. We will have a good team. But how good?

OSU will not do as well next year. All beatable finalists. Is Hunter S a senior?

PSU will have Retherford and Megaludis back, two possible NC's... PSU will be stacked.

No. He's a senior.

They only graduate two guys. Why are you so down on them? They will be darn good.

Exactly, plus one of those seniors, Demas, didn't do much this tournament and they have the younger Jordan waiting to replace him. Even without Stieber, they have more than enough firepower to repeat.

I'm not sold on Megaludis. They do get McIntosh back next year and he's a stud. Not sure what they'll do with Conaway/Megaludis. Gulibon is at 133.

They lose Lawson and Brown at the upper weights, they lost both Alton brothers too.

I am on the boat that they won't do as well. They lose their team leader and it'll be hard for a couple of their guys to repeat what they did this year I think. They still will probably be #1 however. Losing Logan, the 2 timer that is a 4 timer will sting pretty bad.

Mega should be worth more points than Conaway who had been solid. "Lost" when it comes to the Altons is a loose application of the term. They didn't wrestle this postseason.

They get Retherford back and have a few really good freshmen red shirting. They will be much better. The question is how much.

Iowa needs to focus on getting one thorough bred horse each year and not over saturate the recruiting classes. Penn State and Ohio State has been recruiting quality over quantity. We get good overall recruiting classes, but we don't get that one gem recruit, that top 5 guy recently. We seem to make up for that by getting a bunch of guys in the mid 20s and 30s rankings. You can only put one guy out on the mat at a time. This is why getting Mark Hall is so important. He's gonna be your (Logan Stiebler, David Taylor, Brent Metcalf) for the next four years. Ohio State has been doing it and so has Penn State. Less quantity. More quality.

we actually have 4 aa back, but brooks is aa quality and meyer is close. 41 57 and 65 points can maybe be better, stoll needs to come in and be the man, hope he is working towards that right now.

Next year Hall will be a hammer for Apple Valley. Maybe he'll be a Hawkeye after that.

If Hunter has a torn ucl as rumored, there is a good chance he misses significant time next year. Not sure why he didn't have surgery months ago.

I thought he had some type of injury?
Sorry if I was misinformed.

I just don't think that Hall is gonna end up in Iowa City. I think Minny will move mountains to get him.

We signed like 10 guys in this class. Kemerer is the only sure fire aa in the group. That is not gonna cut it boys. We have 1 more in next year's class in Marinelli with Young being a contributor. We need 2 more studs in that class. I have seen enough room guys for a lifetime.

Iowa will be in the hunt next year.

Gilman - slightly better
Clark equal
141 - only losing 2 points
Sorensen slightly better
157 - Grothus could be a monster where we had nothing
165 - only one way to go. Paddock could be good
174 Meyer could produce more points due to pinning ability and weight class gradulations
184 - Brooks is almost top notch, should be major point increase
197 - Burak is improving nicely and should improve some more
HWY - we take a big hit

Overall - possibility of lots of point improvement

Don't think we "SIGNED" 10 guys. I think we allowed most of them to have a spot in the room and a chance to compete. We SIGNED Kemerer! Brands I believe is taking a different approach. In my opinion more dollars to top talent - 2 to 3 a class aka Kemerer, Alex, Renetria, Mejia and hopefully Surinao, Lee, White and HALL. Damn we're right there we are looking at second place. Can't change too much...maybe a couple of asst coaches. Throw a ton of money at top level asst coach. Damn they continue to raise ticket prices every year they can hopefully afford it.

Agree with all the posters saying Iowa needs to grab quality over quantity. Iowa has been doing quantity and it isn't paying off. The margin for error is just as thin with quality but quality has proven to matter time and time again at these championships and in tournaments. Besides it's not good for wrestling and growing the sport when Iowa lacks a roster full of guys who lack offense. Iowa is suppose to be that program everyone in the country watches to set the bar on what a wrestler and a program should be. That is no longer the case.

This is a weird statement. Room guys are needed and we needed a restock. Iowa has about 3 real recruits so far this year and the rest are walk on types. No need to run those guys down or be critical about them. It is necessary to have them and I'm not sure how many actually "signed."

Not really weird at all. I have seen enough Ballwegs, Dziewa, Kelly, Moores for years to come. We are Iowa for God's sake, we shouldn't have 3 year starters never place. It shouldn't happen.

Hall tweeted that he had a bunch of different fans hollar at him in st. louis.
20 something Go Gophers
5 how about them cowboys
10 Go hawks
12 Go state

If I were Minny, I would give this guy the keys to the city to keep him there. Iowa would be great for him though if he wants to wrestle for passionate fans an huge crowds at home and away. The fact we are the first wrestling team to wrestling in front of 100,000 fans in a month has to be appealing. With Hawkeye fans, there's really not a lot of middle ground as far as our fandom goes as evident of the past two days. We either love the hell out of you and want you to marry into our family, or you're that crazy brother in law that's living in the RV in your backyard.

Are you talking about recruiting or ones that end up in the lineup? Your rants are all over the place. It is tough to tell.

I agree, but it is not like we haven't had those guys that were supposed to be horses but never panned out.

Potential PSU next year

125 Nico, High AA/NC
133 Conaway R12 too small
141 Gulibon Low AA, rumors of weights issues this year
149 Retherford high AA/NC rumors there is a ripped monster in the PSU room
157 Nolf Mid AA+, very high potential
165 Hammond low AA/R12; Rumors Rasheed will beat him for spot
174 Nickal ?? Low AA, high upside
185 McCutcheon, low AA
197 Morgan M. High AA/NC
285 Nevills ?? Low AA

??=Untested freshman, lots of speculation.
