Whilst watching videos of the interviews that were taken after games this past year,...I noticed something. Praise for CJ, directly from the players, and also the mention of playing Iowa Football.........just something to think about.

Interesting since Ferentz literally could not answer a question about CJ without bringing up how awesome Jake was. Than when the seat gets hot he totally turns on Jake. The guy has been exposed as a poor coach that rode the tails of great assistants.

Wrong as usual, Kirk deserves credit for all the good things he has accomplished, and those great assistants you refer to were always the first to make that clear. I look forward to Kirk leading the Hawks to another resurgence. Of course as a troll, you probably wouldn't want to see that.

I am right like usual and my love for the Hawkeyes is why Ferentz has to get ran out of town. I think it is already too late to avoid the deep Lickliter hole for the next coach.

Depends on how good your memory is as to "the good things" Kirk has accomplished.

Other than Beathard installed at QB, there really is nothing about Iowa Football these days to get excited about. Holes and marginal players spread everywhere, the Special Teams are as bad as any in organized Football at any level. The only real thing to look forward to is the day Ferentz is gone. Couldn't come soon enough for me.

This whole "thing" has unraveled to the point of being unrecognizable as "Iowa Football".

Might be the dumbest thing I've read on these boards. ..and that is saying something!

Kf did some great things and should be acknowledge d as having done so I just hope he leaves the program better than he got it.

It's not. But Mulva and Army1 aren't around these days so this genius is clearly heir to the throne.

First, this is not a rip on JR or and endorsement of Beathard, this is all about coaching.

KF did some good things that he deserves credit for but he also has to own the poor job he did at managing the QB position last year. As i recall, the reason given for the QB change in the last game: "there were a couple of things JR did in the Nebraska game (I think that's the one he referenced) that were significant and thus we needed to make a change".

That is total BS, there was nothing JR did in the Nebby game that he hadn't been doing since he started. KF was completely unwilling to make a change because of KFs coaching style.
He's not a risk taker.
He doesn't like to take chances.
He's conservative.
He plays the statistical probabilities.
He's unwilling to make a change.
whatever the reason, it was a total fail on KF's part. He should be embarrassed about last year and the way he managed (failed to manage).

Except for multiple red zone turnovers...something that is is despised by the program and KF over everything you listed.

I know I'm in the minority, but I buy the explanation that things changed in that game.

I concur as well. I mean I either take Kirk Ferentz word for it or the word of a bunch of cyclone fans on a Hawkeye message board looking to troll. Not a tough decision.

C.J. will take Iowa to the next level, I compare him to a young Joe Namath!

This ride called Hawkeye Football is about to get real interesting better hop on boyz!

I think that CJB has the confidence and charisma you look for in a QB. His game was erratic last year but I think his intangibles more than make up for that. Give him a year to develop and improve and I think we have a much better chance to be successful on offense.

CJ has a bit of the Ricky Stanzi gunslinger mentality. I hope it works out for us. It would be nice to have a positive story this year.

When, and other on this board, is the last time you heard someone outside the organization say:

Iowa sure looks well coached?

KF out coached (opponent coach) in this one?

Iowa has some outstanding talent?

I am sure Iowa is worried that KF might listen to other offers?

Iowa's QB sure has developed since his first arrival?

People say this now but I seem to remember a time when hordes of fans were demanding that Ken O'Keefe be fired. Websites were even being created to promote Ken's demise.

Okay, fair point on the rest of them but I'm really tired of seeing this. Stanzi improved greatly. JVB improved from his RS Freshman year to his junior year. Rudock was more efficient. The problem is this GDGD offense. The proof is the in difference between JVB Jr. year and Sr. year. Losing McNutt doesn't count for that much of a drop off. Ever since then it seems like the offense hasn't been in sync.

Also, the equation of team wins= quarterbacks development, that so many fans here go by doesn't make sense and is completely ignorant. He's 1 of 22 starters. In no way, shape, or form, does the outcome of a game 100% rely on the QB's shoulders. That's such an asinine outlook.

"This is assuming he is not a physically crippled in-patient at the UIHC ICU thanks to playing behind the "Maginot Line"......right?"

If you are predicting a 6-0 start, I'll take it. :)

Great teams have great QB play...

We need to recruit better QBs, and we need to coach them to be better QBs...

Unless this happens...we will continue to have more "great" seasons built upon winning 6-7 games vs MAC caliber teams...and heading to another "great" bowl...

Since the Wisconsin fiasco a few years ago...KF has led this team into a death spiral...

Top level QB play (and play calling) is the only way to change this...

Haven't seen a positive post out of you on either board. You repeatedly slammed Mike G and gave him no credit for good games. You're a either a troll or a bad fan, ignored.

oh and ... .... ... .... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... .. ... ... ... .. ..... .. .. . . . .....

Drop the "whilst" as it is unpronouncible as well as an unwelcome Brit import. While will do just fine.

And if CJ bombs this season it will be because KF gave him no experience last year. Rinse, recycle, repeat.

Whilst.... Did not not know whilst was a word until I saw it used in a Airbus...." remain sitting whilst the plane is moving"
just a dumb observation whilst being bored tonight......
