The intolerant left and Dr. Ben Carson

So what do you have to say about Obama and Biden tripping over their tongues on a continuous basis?

57 states, for example?

And Biden? What stupid thing HASN'T he said?

It isn't a slip of the tongue when he believes the Earth is less than 10,000 years old and maintains that evolution is sponsored by Satan. Carson is an idiot and it has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the color of his skin. Idiots come in all colors. Are you black?

You guys are really showing your true colors. In your mind there is nothing worse then a black man that's Conservative and thinks for himself.

Look at what's happening to him. He's been called a "coon" by a Harvard professor, "F You" by GQ and now Seth Rogen (obviously racist) throws out a tweet simply saying "F YOU Ben Carson".

Whatever happened to the party of tolerance? This certainly wasn't tolerated by you when it came to Barack, but all of a sudden, it's OK to do it?

The democrat party of tolerance doesn't exist and never did.

From the waist down, yes.

And Obama believes there are 57 states. Obama is a total idiot and it has absolutely nothing to do with the color of his skin.

C'mon IMCC, you're better than this.

Carson is highly intelligent. In my mind, quite possibly the smartest person among the candidates. However, he has said some things that suggest a point of view not compatible with a vision of cooperation.

Ok………..maybe I am. So would you say that Dr. Carson would be more cooperative than what we have in office now?

Hard to say. There's an argument one could make given his background as a neurosurgeon that he would be the type who is in charge and not amenable to having others question him.

On the other hand, he was able to achieve status of department head at a major medical institution so he knows how to cooperate with other like minded individuals.

There are some things I like about Carson, but some of his old school religious beliefs concerns me that he wouldn't be open to socially liberal ideas.

I think the good thing about Dr. Carson is he's about rule of law. He won't go rogue and do things himself. He'll follow the law regardless if he likes it or not. He has said this in the past and I take him at his word. That might negate any fears you have about his religious beliefs. I just think he won't let that get in the way of carrying out his duties.

Just my two cents.

My concerns about Carson as president have nothing to do with his beliefs or the way he expresses them. I just don't think it's an entry-level job, and our current president is demonstrating that only too well.

Most of the views listed in that diatribe are not only reasonable, they are commonly held and probably have been held by the vast majority of the men who have served as president.

His religious beliefs would point me to the opposite conclusion. For when the man encounters evidance, he filters it and discounts any that doesn't conform with his church teachings.

Why do you think so?

"His religious beliefs would point me to the opposite conclusion. For when the man encounters evidance, he filters it and discounts any that doesn't conform with his church teachings."

You're not giving him any room to weigh the circumstances of any given situation. In essence, you're denying him any chance to change his mind or rely on outside opinions. If that's the case, he doesn't need a cabinet or advisors. Pretty difficult for a president to handle his job duties on his own.

I agree, but it's not me who has this powerful hold over Ben's ability to reason.

This is nothing new. Your basic liberal is the most intolerant person you're likely to find in the political world. They think any woman or minority who doesn't meet the stereotype is to be reviled and isn't a true woman or minority.

I find it hard to believe that a relatively level-headed poster actually believes this. Or maybe you were just trying to channel your inner IMCC.

Libs are the modern slaveholders. Any black who strays off their plantation deserves all the punishment he gets

He's got all the information he needs to understand that the Earth is more than 10,000 years old or that evolution is a fact. He just chooses to ignore it. And he chooses to ignore fact based on his religious beliefs. Why would I NOT suspect he might do the same thing under other circumstances?

LOL. Yes, because challenging Dr. Carson's views isn't protected by the First Amendment and the marketplace of ideas.

Only a conservative could equate the First Amendment with punishment. Nice work.

Carson is a unique guy. I mean, a NEURO-surgeon that believes Adam and Eve were the first two human beings on the planet. That makes me raise an eyebrow. I don't think I've ever even heard of someone like that before!

I have. Just like any other profession there are a lot of hard core religious conservatives in medicine. Doesn't make them bad doctors, though, just people with whom I don't share their beliefs.

Being smart doesn't negate being a nutbag. We have posters here who are seem to be fairly smart but are nutbags. Oh, IMCC is NOT one of the smart ones.

I guess I never get into that topic with medical professionals. And, as you said, it's their business and if it works for them, great. I guess I'm just assuming (mistake) that their education would at least possibly challenge that understanding.

Yes. Seth Rogan, some lady from some college, and a writer from some magazine, all speak for all Democrats. These 3 are like the authors of the bible. Though their words are not dictated from Obama, their words were "breathed out" by Obama. Through using their own writing styles and personalities, they still recorded exactly what Obama intended.

Try reading the comment sections in Huffpo or any media outlet that runs an article on him. It's pretty disgusting.

Sadly, it's pretty much the same for any story on any media outlet about any minority. This country sucks sometimes.

Fixed it for ya

Because you don't want to know what the actual people are thinking and saying.

One thing I've found reading the comments. There are a lot of stupid, hateful, racist, uninformed, and horribly educated people in this country.
THESE are the people who cast votes.

I don't want to know what Anonymous people on the internet are saying, and yes I get the irony of this post.

So how do we fix it? Where do we get to the point to where people have at least some common ground respect for one another?
I don't have the answers. The political fighting has been going on since the birth of our nation, now its just more available to everyone. The best advice I take is to be aware that most everyone loves their country, they just have different ideas on how to improve the country.. and don't feed the trolls.

I would think a top-down approach would help. Put some people in office who are able to discuss issues rationally while respecting the other side. That said, both sides would have to be worthy of respect, and I wouldn't say that about most people in Washington, right now.

It hasn't been this bad since the late 60's. I'm fearing some real violence hitting out streets in the near future.
