The Iowa women’s bball team is better than the Fever

What I saw last night from the Fever was almost unwatchable. Offensively they looked in complete disarray - no semblance of a half court offense with players basically standing motionless in one spot seemingly never having heard of a screen.

That was the best and worst WNBA game I've ever watched. Can't wait to see if it maintains the #1 spot after the next game or plummets all the way to the bottom at #2.

Other than the fake lash-hair beyond her hind end gal who played defense on Clark like a fiend there was nothing worth watching in that spectacle. Yuck basketball.

They need time to play together. A lot of standing around led to nowhere for Clark to dish the ball.

You greatly underestimate the quality of play in the WNBA. Iowa would have gotten blitzed by Suns or the Fever.
Probably not blitzed. Iowa women know how to set screen for their shooters to get open looks. From I've seen they do not teach that in the W.

Truer words have never been spoken than this. She's 40 lbs bigger than the other bigs that played last night. She will never be a recipient of a Clark pass on a break. Clark did hit a couple for layups. Boston would be trade bait for me.
I am not saying that you are wrong, but I was surprised to see the play of Boston last night, she was definitely slow and didn't appear to have good hands or adroit post moves. The reason that I am surprised is that she was the ROTY in the WNBA last year...not some chump.

So...was last night a true indication of her play OR is she off to a slow start but will come on in time? I don't know, but if last night is her ceiling, then yes, trade her.

The CC show was an event that was tied to its particular circumstances.
While she is an incredible talent and will very likely be a big success, it's unlikely the phenomenon will be replicated.
One great player isn't going to whip up success overnight for the worst team in any pro league, including the wnba.

I said it before, and I'll say it again: Boston has shown me nothing. She's tall and wide, and that's her game, yet she was WNBA Rookie of the Year last season. What?!

She can't run. She's not quick. She has bad hands. She can't jump even a little bit. And her footwork is horrible. Other than that, she's damn good. Stuelke's game is FAR beyond Boston's right now. The only advantage Boston has is size.

And now you see why nobody has watched the WNBA. That game last night was the most boring basketball game I've seen in decades. Men's and women's college basketball . . . especially Iowa's women . . . is highly entertaining almost all the time. I was prepared for a letdown last night, but wow . . . that was just ugly. And the Fever were in the game most of the way until it finally got out of hand at the end.

You keep telling me these are elite female athletes. OK. But I don't think either team showed me much in the way of quality basketball last night. It was just one game, but even with CC playing, I'm not going to keep wasting a couple of hours a night to watch whatever that was. The WNBA may soon find out that not even CC can save it long term. It's just not an entertaining product, if last night was any indication.
I think the shot clock might have something to do with it from a mental aspect.

It's just bad, forced offense all around.

Yeah, the defensive intensity is there, and the tallest, most athletic players thrive at the highest level. But damn there are very few WNBA teams that even remotely resemble competent team offensive basketball.

It really shouldn't be the struggle that it is. Solve THAT problem first and foremost..........

Indiana's offense was stagnant. Nobody was getting open. Just players getting to spots and then standing there while CC/Boston run a pick and roll. That's not very exciting to watch (I think it's what drives some fans away from the men's NBA, for that matter) given that there is little player movement off the ball.

Connecticut was blitz doubling CC on ball screens constantly and Indiana couldn't make them pay at all. There was no outlet pass for her to make. Against that blitz, someone has to make herself available to receive a short direct pass. Then you will get a 4 on 3 advantage which should result in an open look somewhere. One way to do this is have the screener do a short roll or a pick-and-pop but it seemed like Boston would set the screen and then roll all the way to the basket (where there was a crowd of defenders) and CC wouldn't really have anyone open to throw the ball to, despite being doubled! Maybe someone with more perimeter skill should be setting the screen for CC and then pop, so when the hard double comes at CC, she can receive the pass and make the correct shot/pass/drive while facing the basket from distance.

True. But to play that game you need a big like Stuelke who can run the floor and finish at the basket and 2-3 shooters on the perimeter to take advantage of Clark’s passing and vision. It was hard to double Clark not just because of her skill but because of the pieces around her who could be the beneficiary of open looks.
Maybe they could use Czinano?

So trade Boston for a big that can run the floor. Reigning rookie of the year should get you good trade value. Either that or you call Jan Jenson for training ideas to get Boston running the floor.
Boston cant run the floor. She's too heavy. But she's got long hair..

To be fair, the fever are boring and awful to watch but anybody that tuned into these two games was in for a treat. Brianna Stewart put on a show last night and the Thomas girl from the Suns did as well..
