this leaves 2 openings to either fill or bank for next season as it has a top 100 player committed.

Braun will be a SR this year and will not affect next season's scholarship #'s

I thought Braun had 2 years left but can't find it now. Is there anything concrete that even has him coming to Iowa? Lots of conjecture but I have seen nothing that I would say confirms he's with us

He has 2 years left, his true Sr year and then Covid year and is expected to play both of them. I expect him to be our backup 5 and darn happy about that.

Nothing official but it’s a near certainty (see the linked article). He told his Belmont teammates he’s going to Iowa, he announced on Twitter that “he’s happy to be going home and playing up a level “ and then deleted it, and he also tweeted out a pic of him that same day wearing Hawkeye garb and deleted that one too. Finally, a national hoops pundit (FWIW) tweeted out he’s coming to IA all around the same time but that one too.

It would be shocking at this point if he doesn’t come IMO - but again no formal announcement.

Incidentally, it’s Brauns (with an ‘s’).

they both played at the same school for at least 1 if not 2 years sometimes being teammates and seeing how your former teammates improve can pay dividends later on.
No one that Iowa is recruiting played with Rebraca.
Brauns, who the discussion was about, played at Belmont.
If you're referring to Grant Nelson, he played at North Dakota State; Filip played at UND.

Never bank scholarships
I'm ok with banking a scholarship. But I don't like the idea of banking two if we can find a viable player to fill one of them. Having only 11 scholarship players can lead to problems when a few injuries happen. If I remember right that happened several years ago when Fran was forced to play a shorter rotation than he normally does because of injuries.

pretty sure we only had 7 scholarship players for one game last year or the year before. I agree with you about banking schollys
