Does anyone know how each of the two Murray twins games compare?
It seems clear what Keegan brings and what a surprise to those of us who didn't see it coming.
How bout Kris?
Can't wait for his time to come.

From Kenyon earlier in the season: Their biggest strength is their bball IQ. They have had a number of great coaches along the way, so they are very cerebral. Their growth spurt has been crazy, but not unexpected. They were projected to be 6’7. They have cousins on my mom’s side of the family that were 6’11-7’0. They are both scorers, Keegan has always been a great catch and shoot player and Kris has always been able to score a multitude of ways, but they both rounded out their games at DME last season. Biggest weakness (if it is a weakness) for both has been their tendency to let the game come to them, where as a player I always looked to force my will on a game either on offense or defense. Now I feel their biggest weakness is experience.

I’m thinking in a couple years it’ll be fun to read and listen to stories about how these two were under recruited and turned into stars. I know Fran had the benefit of them being born to a past Iowa star but he definitely deserves credit for seeing the potential in them. The Murrays also deserve credit for understanding they had work to do and then going and doing exactly what Fran wanted. It’s a pretty cool story to date and should get even better.

It is hard to believe Kris doesn't deserved any PT when Keegan has done so well. With Keegan's foul trouble
at times, playing some Kris would have been interesting to watch. With the rebounding/defense Keegan has shown, I think they could justify 30 minutes per game total for both Keegan and Kris if Kris were similar players

We'll not have idea until next year how good Kris is---if there is big drop off, then that will justify Fran's rotations this year. If not, then it will just be another Fran thing, like keeping Ulis/JoeT in hibernation most of the time.

I could be remembering this wrong but didn't Kenyon say Kris was the better natural rebounder? If that's the case yes, please. If Kris' intangibles and instincts are even half of Keegan's I think hawk fans are in for a treat. I'm excited for years of murray ball, feel dumb for questioning their offers. My bad, Kenyon!😆

Kenyon has stated that his sons are real close in ability. Roster structure and PT are giving an advantage to Keegan. Kris is going to be great with more game experience.

TJ is spot on. Just a depth situation. You just cannot play 10 or 11 guys productive minutes. No one gets into the flow of the game. Remember that Zack, Mel and RJM season? Playing 11 guys every game is not good coaching.

Put your best 5 guys on the floor, play them as much as possible. Why would people think Ulis has been banished? He's a true freshman, playing behind a higher ranked sophomore with starting experience and a senior that is the school career assist, three point and, I think free throw shooter. That's called normal in most schools.

Kr Murray is stuck in the same boat, except the four star three year starter and the four star other freshmen at his position were just higher 4* recruits than the two 4* point guards ahead of Ahron

All of the freshmen knew who was ahead of them when they signed. Most freshmen don't roll into a top ten team thinking they are going to displace the starters that got the team the top ten rating.

I haven't seen Kris play enough to comment on his game, but when I look at your bolded line above, I asked myself, "But haven't we see Fran do that very thing before?"

I think the explanation is probably pretty simple. Kenyon is a good father and does not see a quality difference in his boys. Even if he did see it you could probably pull out his teeth and he wouldn't say which son is better. The coaches get to see them everyday.

My guess is Ke is a better shooter than Kr, at least catch and shoot. With Luka on the floor that is a key feature of PT on this team. Kris is just in the same boat at Ahron Ulis, and Tony Perkins when CJ is healthy. If Joe Dub hunts money next season Kr Murray will get a lot of minutes.

Is it true they’ve both grown taller this year?
This may have been addressed already, but I've always wondered why Keegan is so far ahead of Kris in terms of PT. Before the season started, I'd have thought that they'd be similar. But Keegan is a key regular while Kris has barely played.

This. I suppose it's better to have too many than not enough.

That is a great analysis of the situation taking into account that the other freshmen are in the same boat. Keegan has also surprised me playing a role that he has never had to play to get on the floor. I HATE the question who is better, because they are both very good players or they wouldn't be on scholarship at the U of Iowa. They have similar skill sets, but Keegan positioned himself at the 4 to get playing time and when the tragedy happened in Jack's family, he was the guy in a position to help fill that opening until Jack got back. The reality is that we have a deep team and when his number is called to perform, don't worry, Kris will show everyone why he wears that black and gold.

I'm confident most Hawkeye Fans have little doubt of Kris's ability to contribute significantly down the road.

I'm a little concerned about certain aspects of their athletic ability. Could you post Mom's 40 times, bench press, standing vertical, etc.? Ha!

I'm looking forward to having the Murray Twins in the lineup personally, how ever long it takes is how long it takes.

A Fran thing? If you mean that Fran tries to win games by playing his best players the most minutes, I suppose that is true.

I heard an interview with Kenyon recently and he said he and the boys were all left handed.

That's interesting. In the vid, it sure looks like his jump shot is right. Look at the 2:38, 2:48, 2:52 mark. He might be "bi-dexterous", like me. Some things left, some right. I throw right, I'd use a hammer with my right it's my stronger hand but I write with my left hand (Thank you big sister). I also bat stronger left than right. Playing the drums and piano has a lot to with with my bi-lateral development.

He could sure go left or right in the paint, great versatility.

I'm just here for the incoming bi jokes.

We do have a 15 year old daughter who is now 5’10 and supposed to be 6’1-6’2!! 😁
Just want to say thank you for being involved with the board and for any insights you share.

Also, I'll go ahead and apologize in advance for the things you have to read here when one of your sons ends up making a mistake on the court that costs the good guys a game. Disregard that if they both have the perfect careers we are all hoping for. :)
