The New York Times has obtained a decade of Donald Trump’s tax figures

Did you even read the title of the article?
It took Amazon 14 years to make as much in net profit as it did last quarter
That doesn't mean the same thing as what you claimed.

I was trying to find articles showing the financial history of the company. It was around 5 years to show their first small profit but they were often up and down during the first 14 years. Net operating income about 0.

It’s the same tax approach that Trump takes. Minimize your taxable income as much as possible.

They didn’t turn a profit for 14 years is also not the same as he lost money ten years in a row.
For sure, but @ihhawk claimed Amazon didn't make a profit for 14 years.

So your original post was full of sh*t. As far as Trump goes he's the one claiming to be the best deal maker and ultimate rich man, not Jeff Bezos.

But Trump's businesses don't do anything novel. He's brought nothing to business. He's basically a slumlord and a name-pimp (which are legitimate businesses, but not innovative enough to justify the amount of failures).

Trump is the only guy I know who could inherit $413 million dollars, lose $1.2 billion, and claim that he is a successful self made businessman.

Even better or worse (pending one's perspective). He's all that, claims that, and a lot of people actually believe him.

....and then came back and said "I meant to do that!"

This show was literally the only profitable thing Trump has ever done.
He probably got production credit on top of being paid to perform, but this was NBC's success. Actually, I think MTV started the genre? Right? The Real World, Road Rules, Fake (music) News?

How insane was it that Trump got people to compete to work for his failing and bankrupt companies?

Was that really the premise of the show? I watched maybe 10 cumulative minutes in years (not a fan of the reality TV genre for the most part). They were supposedly seriously working for his ventures? I just assumed it was like participating in high school DECA.

In before the Trumpsters show up and say it should be illegal for the NYT to release these private, and questionably obtained documents.
It's only a matter of time before more are leaked out. Trump should get out ahead of the curve and release some phony ones before the real ones come out. His supporters will believe anything, anyway. Put some out that show he paid $1 billion a year in taxes, and gave $2 billion a year to charity.

While I appreciate the investigative reporting nature of the article, it really doesn't mean anything.

The literate have known he's a fraud and a sad joke for years. Nothing from the NYT will ever move Trump out of idol status for the deplorables.
Yeah, but Trump has ALWAYS craved approval and praise from the NYC elite and the Times is their paper of record. Knowing he is losing his damn mind over this still makes it worth it from a pure schadenfreude perspective.

By the way, this just confirms why liberals want his tax returns. It’s solely to try to embarrass him. No other reason
Showing that the emperor has no clothes is never a bad thing. I mean, presumably not everyone has their nose up Trump’s ass as far as you and will realize he is, indeed, a fraud, blowhard and exceedingly bad businessman.

Solid reporting! Likely another Pulitzer on the way for the NYT.

Went something like 6 years without cable after high school, bruh. And I couldn't get PBS with rabbit ears at some of those apartments (converted bomb shelters).

I'm no expert, but last I heard Tesla doesn't seem likely to make it. If so, they'll probably liquidate proprietary technology to recoup something. And the technology/potential does seem likely to benefit everyone long term.

Again, no expert, but Amazon's infrastructure alone is basically too big to fail long term barring external catastrophe and/or government intervention busting retail oligopoly. Their online properties are large enough to dwarf and buyout tech upstarts to enhance their products. The world's greatest loss leading company.

Trump lost money owning/operating a casino. His successful ventures are licensing his name, leasing some commercial and residential real estate (brilliant business ), and appearing on TV. In business, he's not in the same league as Tesla and Amazon and could never be. He's not as talented and neither are the people he surrounds himself with.
Nothing is too big to fail, they said the same thing about General Motors.

What a stupid freaking thread.

In case anybody actually cares, there was a serious recession during the years of 1985 - 1994. It's why Bush lost to Clinton and why I joined the Coast Guard.

There was a 9 year recession? Am I allowed to use that to justify my personal failures? I was an underclassmen at Iowa in 2008-2009.

Was your wife in the real estate development business? Recessions are especially hard on that segment.
Nope. Industrial and welding supplies with the main clients being major agricultural equipment manufacturers, which actually fared worse than poor Manhattan developers in that timeframe.

Ever hear of Farm Aid? Both International Harvester and Farmall closed up factories in the Quad Cities during this era.
