Trump is promising that he will testify at the trial. He's lied a bunch of times about testifying at his trials. He can't help himself from trying to juice the ratings. Everything is an opportunity to get eyeballs on him.

What's funny here for me is that the MAGA's will turn an absolutely sordid episode that would have destroyed any other politicians political career (let alone the legal implications), becomes just another chance for them to engage in their grievance/victim-hood schtick.

Keep in mind Trump Org was already found criminally guilty of crimes. A grand jury brought these charges. And, there weren't live witnesses to the crimes in the OJ trial. In this trial you have multiple people and documents backing up the prosecutor's case.

Trump, while engaging in a one-nighter with Stormy Daniels, was not only two-timing his wife, but also his girlfriend at the time, Karen McDougal. This little episode with Stormy wound up costing Trump a whopping $280K - $130K hush money to Stormy and $150K to McDougal via National Inquirer exec David Pecker to kill McDougal's tell-all story. Stormy and McDougal are potential prosecution witnesses who may in fact testify. Is this hilarious or what? Trump has been caught with his proverbial "pants down" on this one!

I’m the other settings like in Michigan last week, every sheriff who was on stage should be asked why they are hanging around with a guy who sexually assaulted E. J. Carroll and who is facing 90 criminal charges. Every county supervisor, city manager or mayor should be asked why their top cop is hanging with Trump
