The playing conditions were horrible

What’s scary is we get a fairly quick turn around at Nebraska and possibly minus CJ now.

Connor gutted this game out; he was not feeling well.

Good Lord! Does the team live on an airplane or in the sewer??? I’ve never heard of another team having so many sick players during a season.

We’ve already heard this year that Wieskamp, Patrick, CJ, Connor, Till, and Pemsl have been ill. That’s not even counting the injured players!

The Mittany Lions had the deeper bench for sure.We had 8 points from the bench and they scored 46 points off the bench. That type of production wins games. It was difficult for anyone to play under those conditions. For the players we had available to play I think they gave it a good go. I understand it was unseasonably warm there, but when you have to put portable fans on the floor, I mean c'mon. Suppose a player fell into one of them?

I know the building is very old, but it's surprising they don't have a modern HVAC system.

That one play where Weezy wiped out? Imagine if he would have gotten injured. It was bad enough that PSU went the other way for an easy dunk. That's 2 points we lost right there because of the playing conditions in a 3 point game.

I felt bad for Fran and the coaches in suits; that had to be extremely uncomfortable. Sometimes I wish coaches would all go to business casual. Today, a short sleeve polo and a pair of more comfy cotton slacks would have been much nicer for them.

Lets face it. When you go on the road, you don't expect to have to deal with temperature and/or humidity issues. You don't expect the floor to become a hazard because of all the sweat pouring off players' bodies.

I think Fran summed it up when he said this postgame:

"Everyone in the league is used to a hostile environment. Loud, road situations. I think what made today so difficult is the heat."

What a joke. Game reminded me of playing summer tournaments in highschool gyms with no a/c and 90% Iowa humidity.

We're a major D1 conference and PSU decides to play in that s hole?

The back story is PSU via Pat Chambers asked us via Fran if we would play there and we agreed to. It’s not like PSU just ‘tossed it on the schedule’.

Nothing wrong with playing at the Palestra... the conditions yesterday, though... I've seen games get called for similar things. Remember the early season matchups on aircraft carriers? Not all of those actually finished.

I'd also say, in a high scoring game, Wieskamp's slip is more than a 2 point swing, as it ended our possession on a turnover, and did Toussaint really travel? I looked to me like the threw the ball before he actually got to the ground.

I just hope the slippery court did not contribute to the current status of CJ's injured foot/ ankle

It is 30 degrees outside. Just open a window.

It was in the mid-50s with 90% humidity. Maybe they did have the windows open...and that was the problem.

Maybe they opened that window every time Luka shot free throws.

Bad conditions, yes. But PSU played in the exact same conditions. Granted, with a deeper bench.

Nope, bad conditions only impact Iowa.

People can blame injuries and being short handed if they like, but people really should not blame the conditions. As you said, both teams are playing on the same court.
