This is why I have largely left.

We came back to take care of our parents and couldn't believe how the state had change after 30 years.

I always considered Iowa a progressive state despite its rural heritage. People were well educated for the most part.

I come back and radios are blaring Rush Limbaugh' stupid nonsense. Hotel and business's TVs are tuned to are tuned to Fox which is airing National Enquirer headlines 24/7 while ignoring actual news events.

My barber, which I no longer go to for this reason, has Fox News on constantly. I raised this issue with him, and he said he doesn't watch news. I don't think it's having the TV tuned to Fox for customers, I believe he doesn't realize what Fox is producing in the way of content.

Mind numbing redundancy. Programming targeting simple or lazy minds.

Those celebrating the decline of ratings of networks and CNN and MSNBC and cheer the increase of the radical ultraconservative networks and social media for news don't consider the misinformation they receive or can't consider the information they don't receive.

Being dumb is easy.

Just like other cultures, one should recognize the difference between race and ethnicity and the varying scope of subcultures among people of African descent. It annoys me that many Americans don’t understand the distinctiveness of Asian ethnicities.
