"The nerve of Lou Holtz!!" -Cryan Day after Ohio State beat Notre Dame last year.

My thoughts are Day has a weak chin, most likely why he decided to grow the beard. Holtz is about a hundred years old though, he still thinks it's the 1980's so he may not know what's going on. My prediction is Day gets upset and passes out over grief. Holtz wins TKO.

ND last trip to the Championship game ended in a 42-14 loss to Alabama. Unless Ohio State puts the ball on the ground or gets picked 2-3 times, I expect a similar result next week.

Holtz is a person born out of time. All the sleazy crap he pulled that got his programs on probation (after he moved on to the next victim) are either above board or ignored now.
Holtz was one of the most prolific cheaters of all time.

"Yes I can tell you what my 3rd string tackle had for breakfast last week, but I had no idea my star running back was getting paid"
I couldn't inject the slobber effect but you can envision it.

I don't think Notre Dame is universally disliked because they're independent. Nor is it due to their religious private school status or their NBC deal which used to make them the only program on National television every week. All those things attribute to it, but it's their smugness that does it. They pretend to be about principles and doing things the right way. Well one need only look at the coverups and scandals they've been involved with. Remember the player death under Brian Kelly? They sure as heck hope you don't.

How about the coach who got hired and fired before Ty Willingham because they didn't do a simple background check. Lou Holtz ran a dirty program that he has yet to accept any responsibility for. Times running out Lou. If you are such a good Catholic as you claim it's time for confession. Even Urban Meyer has owned up to about ten percent of his despicable behavior. When your trailing Meyer in regards to the ethical scoreboard that's something to write home about.

Ryan Day is an emotional diva, but at least he seems to run a clean program. You wanna punch him and make him cry a little bit I get the impression he does care about his guys.

Before anybody says it's easy to run a clean program when you can pay for players, that's not what I mean. I'm talking about his players conduct. They seem like decent young men. Just like the guys at Iowa, just with more $$$ in their pockets due to NIL.

I’m not sure how clean the Buckeye program has been, but having over 20,000,000 in nil just for football makes it pretty easy to win there. I think Kirk is a much better coach than Ryan Day. I’ve said it before, most of the guys posting on this site could win 10 games a year at Ohio State.

Iowa could have a 50 mil NIL budget and they still wouldn't get the skill players because they would know they wouldn't get utilized.

You guys aren’t very original are you ?
Here's the thing.

KF is still sharp mentally. He still appears to have the energy and competitiveness.

And football didn't change over night, and to the degree many people believe it has.

So no, the game hasn't passed KF by. Doctorate level research shows the last five non-Covid seasons to be KF's winningest five year stretch at Iowa. And the COVID season sported what would have been the 2nd highest winning percentage in that group.

It's hard to be as inaccurate and hard-headed as Doc is with his "fossil" BS

Also tough to be as chronically offensively inept as Capt Fossil's program is.

I'm sure definitions of "inept" would vary.

In the end, it's a good thing that none of that matters, because it hasn't kept KF from having his most successful stretch at Iowa.

Such a fossil. I don't think you even realize how ridiculous you sound

Many of us on here have been consistently labeled by you as illiterate, slow witted, dumb, ridiculous, subnormal, etc for disagreeing for your apologetics regarding The Capt. Implied illiteracy/semi literacy ("read better") seems to be your goto phrase. After awhile one becomes numb to your condescension and arrogance.
With that said, I do have to give you credit for being one of the most pompous asses I have EVER encountered.

Maybe don't have such outlandish takes, by routinely calling for KF's job.

Even if KF were a "fossil" on offense, which he's not, that's not ultimately what a coach gets judged upon. Stop calling for this man's job.

What's really going on here is you are old, and calling KF's offense a fossil makes you feel younger.

That's cool. It really is. I'm glad you're able to find ways to stay feeling young, and glad you have a healthy inclination to do so.

You at least are short with your thoughts in way that seems you aren't making a big deal out of things. And although I'm sensitive to you calling for KF's job, you do it in a mostly harmless, and almost humourous way that isn't intensely negative.

But let's be real here. KF's job is to win games. It isn't to be your viagra

A modern, effective, Spread Offense is all we of the Resistance are asking for.
The air was meant to be filled with footballs.

This “spread offense” is not conducive to football played outdoors in November. You better get ready to run the football…those 45 sec. “3 and outs” in windy, wet and shitty weather don’t do much to win close football games.

Everything is speculative until solid evidence is offered. Ohio State under Meyer was a different animal than the one under Tressel. Yet one got fired for off the field antics that wouldn't be looked at twice in the SEC. The other guy has a permanent office. Life isn't fair. Michigan will soon be spending forty million a year. That Underwood kid got a reported ten million as a high school recruit.

Penn State people claim they can't compete with Oregon, Ohio State or Michigan as far as NIL, facilities and other bells and whistles. Does that make Franklin the turtle a great coach? He beats everybody he's meant to. That's the same line Ferentz supporters use to defend him.

I'm not saying Ferentz is great or terrible. I'm saying that when you use a narrative to support your position than you should be prepared to have it used against you. There's no guarantee you can win even with the resources. Look at Texas, USC, Florida or Georgia before Kirby Smart. Miami is the dirtiest program around and it's legal now. They can't even win the ACC.

Not sure about that, although the footballs are meant to be filled with air.

Modern means nothing.

The offensive has been effective/serviceable for roughly 24 of 26 seasons under KF.

It's repeatedly been explained to you why a spread offense is not a good idea.

And even if the offense were rarely effective, and the spread were a good idea, the man's record is nothing close to one that would suggest he shouldn't be the coach.

"The Captain must go." Where have we heard that before. That is where you go severely wrong

Even before nil Ohio State had a huge recruiting advantage over most of college football, nil just cements it even more so .

Agree, I like Freeman a lot more than Day, but this is OSU's to lose.

What did Holtz do? I didn’t hear about any of the cheating, I never knew this. Before my time.
