I agree with this. It's one reason why the conversation about RPI and such always strikes me as just a little off even though it's necessary.
Lol this was easy to see coming, especially against try hard Northwestern. Didn't Iowa do this last year against NW as well?

NW has won 5 games now in the B1G and the season's end is near.....I disagree 100%. We'll see how the series ends up, but Hawks should have swept....
Heck, the Hawks went 2-2 against NW last year. Won the CCG 13-4...no way they should lose a series to these guys.

I think Iowa can win out and still get an at-large Big with their high RPI based off of their strong wins and a 4th place finish in conference.

Final hit bounced off of 2Bs glove then the CF booted it so no play at the plate.
The margin for error is razor thin from here on out. Absolutely can't afford another loss. Winning out would leave them right at 60 RPI. A nice win in the B1G tourney would likely get it back to where we started today.

Finals week was this week at Iowa, btw. Heller was worried the Hawks would come in sluggish....his fears have been realized.
Is it an excuse? No. But we are dealing with human beings who just got done with finals and got on a bus for Chicago....
Heller also said in the pregame radio show that:
* Bad weather is an equalizer.
* Iowa scored 5 runs yesterday; that should have been enough to win yesterday's game. The Iowa pitching was simply not good enough. He mentioned the wild pitch and balk that gave N'western 2 of their runs.
