Thelwell & Traore updates

Curious as a coach why you would start the kid several, games in room then bench him after a bad start to a game?
Seems more like a domineering ill tempered coach
Or maybe the coach didn't like the way the player responded to something that was said?

But he only took 2 shots. That warrants sitting for 37 minutes? Kingsbury missed 3 out of 4 and had 1 rebound.
No not at all. Fran is an old fuking goofball but we've seen him have these weird emotionally based standards for players that aren't shooters before.

Kingsbury wasn't actually doing anything defensively that mattered and even if he was Fran wouldn't have even noticed.

Fran is singularly focused on the offensive end and if certain players do things on that end that upset him he just benches them.

Fran has history of incomprehensible player rotation decisions
Are they all because of something the kid said??.?
Or is it Fran being questionable game coach ?

First of all - I never said for fact what happened or why. I wasn't there.

They are incomprehensible to the people that have absolutely no idea of what is going on at the time a decision needs to be made. Who knows why a specific decision is made - do you? Were you in the huddle? What would happen if people on the fringe tried to tell you what to do at your job? You'd probably say f'off as you have no idea of what you're talking about. And because you may have played basketball in high school in no way makes you an expert. Every single decision that is made that does not work out gets 2nd guessed by so called experts who have the luxury of waiting to see how it all unfolds.

Do you really think he just forgot about him on the bench? I'm sure there was a reason and being that I'm not privy to the inside facts, I don't try imply what should have been done. Fans have the ability to sit back and see how things work out - coaches don't.

Are you now of the crowd that states, if you’re not in the huddle you have no right to make an opinion….?

Well IMO most posters here post their opinions as fact and will get into looooong pissing matches about their opinions/facts.
And those posters are never wrong, and everyone with a different opinion is an idiot who knows nothing about the game.

I think we all know who those guys are.

Sometimes, I can't help but really wonder about that.

Pretty sure I've never seen a guy in the starting lineup sit for 37 minutes, with 0 or 1 foul and/or not injured.

To me, he looked pretty stupid in those 2 minutes. I did figure he'd be back, but I was wondering what the heck he was doing in those two minutes

Of course you have the "right" - being right is an altogether different issue. And since you're not the coach, you're not around the team, you're not in the middle of any given game, I am going to lean in to the fact you probably don't know.

Fran benched him because Washington had decided to post Osobor in the lane instead of defending Traore.

That messes up Frans offense so he just said **** it I won't play him.

Agree or disagree with the decision that's Frans thought process. He's willing to take his most athletic guys off the court so that the offense has spacing. That's just what Fran is.

I never said I “knew”….
Only that his name coaching decisions are many times without reasonable explanations…

Why do you start the guy 4 games in row, and if he goes 0-2 with a TO, he sits rest of game? Why?
The if he’s so unplayable , do you start him in the next game?

Explanations?

“Weird emotional based standards….”
Combined with stubborn, inflexibility, resistant to change and paper thin ego for criticism…

Back to my original comment - after he was taken out he very possibly said something or acted in a manner that said F you to the coach and a coach has boundaries. Fran is certainly a players coach as you would be hard pressed to find a former player that has anything bad to say about playing for him. Why do you start him the next game - maybe because his point was made and what was done was in the past? Starting him the next game showed that.
