When I was a freshman, our BENCH included guys like Bill Jones (cup of coffee in NBA), Sir Jamelot, Jeff Moe (B1G 6th man of year), Al Lorenzan, Kent Hill, Michael Morgan, Michael Reeves. So depressing vs now.
So you look at the ONE team when Iowa had 7 players that played at least a little in the NBA? And not, say, your presumable senior year when our bench was Troy Skinner, Jay Webb, Dale Reed, Brian Garner and Brig Tubbs?
I'm guessing--and purely guessing, no inside info--it's perhaps a mental health issue, or something significant that isn't "athletics" based.
I agree with the thinking that if it were something "regular" we'd hear it's a knee-strain, high ankle sprain, etc.
If the kid/family doesn't want it out there, that is totally fine. It just seems odd since it's so out of the norm. Again, just guessing.
Besides playing a zone, slowing the game down, would be a blessing also, but that's not Fran's style as we know it....

What makes a coach great is how they can manage a game to fit their roster or circumstance. Fran has rarely changed his system to allow for Iowa to take advantage of his roster or game situation. How many games has Iowa lost in his 15 years at Iowa where slowing the game down might have allowed Iowa to escape defeat. Probably more then we want to admit. I'm ready for a change at the top. IT'S TIME....
