Thelwell's status up in the air (ankle injury). Cooper likely out rest of the season (will likely apply for medical redshirt)

Since his parents split time going to every game for Owen and Owen's younger brother Braden and since Braden has signed to go to Cal Poly next season, it wouldn't be a stretch to see Owen transferring somewhere out west. Not that I've heard anything but it makes sense to me. Hope it doesn't come to reality. This is just my opinion and is not intended to become a rumor or fact.

Terps starting 5 averages more points than anyone in the country...not much bench tho.
Still that starting group is scary.

Iowa men’s basketball: Drew Thelwell status update for Hawkeyes’ game at Maryland

Iowa guard Drew Thelwell is not expected to be available for Sunday’s contest at Maryland. Riley Mulvey is also out.

This will be the second consecutive game Thelwell has missed.

Thelwell suffered an ankle injury in Iowa's matchup with Wisconsin on Feb. 8 and looked to be in serious pain. Though he returned to that game later on, the injury forced him to miss Wednesday’s game at Rutgers.

The Morehead State transfer is averaging 10.5 points, three assists, 2.4 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game for Iowa this season while shooting 42.2% from deep. His steal and 3-point shooting numbers are career-highs.

Iowa was able to knock off the Scarlet Knights without him.

After being moved to the bench, Brock Harding returned to the starting lineup against Rutgers in Thelwell’s absence. Harding posted a stat line of 13 points, seven assists, four rebounds and three steals.

The status of Mulvey is also notable. The Hawkeyes were already in an unfavorable spot as Owen Freeman is done for the season. And on Sunday, Iowa's depth becomes even thinner with Mulvey being unavailable.

Maryland is the back half of two consecutive road games for Iowa. The Terrapins present a significant challenge, entering Sunday’s matchup 19-6 overall, including 9-5 in the Big Ten. They have lost only one game at home all season.

After Sunday’s contest, Iowa returns home for two games at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Iowa hosts Oregon on Wednesday and Washington on Saturday.

As long as he takes Harding with him. It’s a net positive.
