We are not a good football team right now, OP is right. He's wrong on dumping on the entire state. I, for one, live in Southern NJ, totally rural and flat with a TON of farmland. Looks much more like Iowa than it does like the quote unquote stereotypical NJ. He is also wrong for saying we don't bring anything to the conference. Yes we lack traditional big-time program history.
But Schiano brought us at least to a respectable level on the football field (and much more than respectable in '06). But our last coach and last 2 ADs did a lot to undo what was built, both in talent and image. Wins and losses too. Given time, I have confidence that this new staff will right the ship and we will be fielding competitive teams in the near future. But it's year one for them and they are stuck with a bad corp. of QBs. who don't fit the new offensive scheme, a medicore core of WRs, a mediocre to bad secondary, mediocre LBers, no edge pass rushers, and so on and so on. So yeah, you may run us off our field this year, but again, in a few years, I expect to see less and less of these types of posts and more of "OK, Rutgers is no pushover anymore".
