They lowered the projected death count again

Seems odd. I am no expert. Nor a true statistician. But I have watched Europe plateau for two weeks now dropping 3300-4500 a day. Add to this we just lost 7500 people last 72 hours and I am not even counting the added 3700 deaths this week New York alone had for unaccounted deaths.

And this model spits out "let's lower the rate to a number a mere 23K more than they are right now and ignore the documented plateaus countries and all of Europe exhibit and New York's addition for in home deaths". Everything I see suggests we will continue to lose between 1000-2500 people a day for the next three weeks and we will be at that 60K in 2 to 3 weeks...

Because the curve has followed their projections pretty closely so far, with numbers within a pretty reasonable margin of error.

please share this model. The IMHE is continually being corrected/adjusted (which is expected). The mean value shifts, as do the error bars, and “peak” day floats back and first weeks at a time (for my state). What’s does “reasonable margin of error” mean to you (empirically, not subjectively)?

this is bull because nobody is doing what they think we are doing. we are like little kids in grade school. we are taking off the mask when the teacher is not looking. we only wash our hands when they tell us to

Some day books will be written about why Trump supporters and non supporters looked at this virus so differently. I’m at a lost why but it’s real.

It’s not this cut and dried. @artradley and @Kakaw83 are two of the more vocal posters in support of opening things up, and they are not Trump supporters in the least. They are, from what I can tell, two posters who don’t let their politics make decisions for them.

Interestingly, the latest run of the model predicts anywhere from 34K to 140K with 60K on the center line.

But we already have more than 34K.

Time to run that model again.

yeah at current pace and with what is happening across the country I feel pretty sure about us going over the 60k mark by EOY 2020.

The statistics show that 2.2% of all covid deaths have been among my age group, that’s still pretty scary.

what’s your age group? What is the infection rate in your age group? 2.2% of 37k isn’t many.

hopefully the books will show we were trained to see the media and dems lied about kavanaugh and Russia and Ukraine so it fits that we were trained to think this was b.s. from the start

You are depressing the hell out of some posters on this board.

No it isn’t and it’s maddening you neocons continue this narrative when someone posts information suggesting opening up now is the wrong decision. You are suggesting your fellow man is wishing for more deaths.

closing it down in the first place was absolutely the wrong decision so opening it is the right decision

we will never know since so many people actually went on like normal to.work and shopping. it was theater. just talk of staying home... not actually doing it. time to open up again... as if it ever really shut. just the economy got ruined

Here's the thing:

Let's say everything opened back up tomorrow. Let's say you own a small business. Maybe a restaurant or bar.

Do you really think you will be packed? Or even 50% full?

The football folks met with Trump the other day and they discussed opening but with distancing like a seat or 2 in between people and baseball also.

the thing is you are welcome to stay home and everybody who is scared is welcome to stay home we are just hoping and wishing for Liberty and freedom for those of us who wish to get out there and be normal to have the freedom to do so

I would think so. I know I’m itching to get out and do something, especially go to a concert.

Maybe I’m dumb but I don’t see how that would help except there’s less people in one place. You still have to walk by others to get up and use the restroom, etc..

This is the perfect time for the wnba to start their season..

The stadiums are usually empty so no one will notice the difference and people will tune in on tv desperate to watch sports
I still wouldn’t watch it.

Is the number of Incel posters on this board unique to the Midwest

No, it's a simple numbers game and logic. Small businesses, such as mine, are getting fvcked over. The government has completely failed with bailouts. If people want to continue to SIP, let them. It's time for the government to get the fvck out of the way.
I'm just curious of other small business owners problems in this mess. Just curious what you do and how the bailouts failed you?

I’m not sure, that’s a good question though. I think there are enough people with enough trepidation that maybe it wouldn’t be packed, but at the same time....people are going stir crazy.
