Think Brands needs to make some tough staff decisions.

When Teasdale left he took my hope of catching PSU with him.

I get that Teasdale was a kick in the groin, but it's just one guy. Iowa has Kemerer, Marinelli, Young, Happel on board, and Lee, Warner, Murin coming in. Just need to sustain that level of recruiting, and see what you have 2-3 years from now.

PSU and tOSU finally getting serious about the sport has tilted the college wrestling landscape eastward. Iowa may not win a title every year like in the 1990s, but Iowa will be right there.

PSU is the lead dawg. We get it. Ryan has done well in recruiting. Actually he is doing a fantastic job at putting Iowa in a position to take PSU out. All it takes is for these top tier recruits to just develop a tad more while at Iowa and we will win a championship or two in a row. To say there needs to be change when a team like PSU has done something pretty special in the past 7 years is crazy. We haven't seen a team like PSU in 20 years. This run they are on is amazing(sucks to watch but its hard not to) and its not because Tom, Terry, Ryan, and Ben don't know what they are doing. Its because Penn State isn't missing on any recruit. They are clicking on all cylinders and driving 80 in a 55 zone.

Were they their high school rankings?

I took those to be projected ncaa rankings, but maybe i was wrong. But as far as HS rank, it doesn't seem correct. Cortez, for instance, was #1 in his weight class, but something like #12 or 13 p4p.

And those are wildly optimistic as far as Iowa's projected rankings, esp Happel, Turk, Murin and Wilcke.... all relatively unproven.

PSU's (Nolf, Cenzo, Hall, Nickal) are proven champions. Nevills and Suriano are high AA caliber.

Those are my guesses as to where they will finish the year.

Love Brands, but think he needs to add a new member to the staff like a Dake or Taylor to assist with the recruiting aspect. It would help if we could add someone with PSU ties or East coast ties. I think the program has reached a point where Boosters would step up to pay for the services of someone like Dake or Taylor. Unfortunately, this means cutting ties with Morningstar.

The landscape of wrestling has changed and Iowa needs to adapt or get left in the dust.
Will Nick Lee wrestle for psu next year? How good is he? They didn't score many points at 41

I don't have a crystal ball, but like most PSU recruits, Nick Lee is impressive. I saw Lee give our own Happel a pretty good beatdown (TF, I believe) at Jr FS Fargo. Lee finished 1st, Happel got 3rd.

Quit taking the bait with that clown.

That's the plan. He was/is finishing his senior year of high school right now, online, while training with NLWC. He even entered a few senior level tournaments this year and absolutely held his own. He'll be starting day 1 next season (at 141).
