I haven't given this too much thought, but just wanted to see what others here think...this year's Hawkeye team seems to be somewhat similar to the New England Patriots in that they aren't the most talented roster, they aren't the statistical leaders in many categories, but the product on the field is "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts" principle in action.

Say what you will about Belichick and his methods, he goes after team first guys and wins with them. Obviously having an elite level quarterback is key to their success, but really they don't have the best receivers, running backs, Oline, or superstars on defense. They play team football.

The team this year has relied on good defense, strong Oline play, running the ball and limiting mistakes.

Where I think we'd all like to see KF excel further is with the week to week schemes and enhancements to the game plan (though that may be somewhat limited by the college environment and having fewer practice hours) that Belichek is famous for. I wonder just how much Belichick has influenced KF in philosophy and approach.

Belichick is a football genius and a cheater. KF is neither of those things.

Tom Brady is the best quarterback ever and a cheater. CJ is neither of those things.

So, no, I'm not inclined to compare the Hawks to the Pats.

The Pats lost to Denver... Hehe :). Iowa is obviously better ;)

Team. In football when everybody is pulling the same direction amazing things happen. That's why Iowa is 12-0 and also why the win Saturday.

I live in AZ and think we are similar to the Cardinals. Palmer seems to make the clutch plays as does CJB. Cards have good defense and so does Iowa. Cards have some good RB this year and Hawks have 4.

As a Dolphins fan I see the Pats often, and the Hawkeyes have a ton of similarities to the Pats. I see it most in our run game which makes sense with BF. I see how other teams are maddened by our ability to run the ball. We have run inside zone, outside zone, power, iso, FB, single back with TE/HB, 3 TEs-we have to be a total pain in the arse to prepare for.

Belichick's post game pressers make KF's " thats football " seem exciting.
I like listening to Belichick when he's asked a good question. You ask him a crap question he'll give you a crap answer. You ask him a good question he'll give you a good answer.

Belichick does a weekly spot on NESN called the Belichick Breakdown where he gives insight about major plays in games. It's great. If anyone is interested here is a link to a couple plays in the Super Bowl against the Seahawks

So which fans are delusional now? Haha Why not the 17-0 Dolphins from the 70's?
