This is the Weekend the Hawkeyes make their move.......

Even if this transpires won't wiscy remain in the driver's seat? This will come down to whether we can beat psu and whether psu can beat wiscy.

We need to beat PSU for this to be a special season. If we don't beat them, likely won't be going to Indy and we won't have beaten a Top 25 ranked team. We could go 10-2, and it would be a good season, but we won't be playing in INDY or in a New Years Game of 6 bowl. That needs to be our goal right now.

We are favored vs Indiana
Michigan is favored to beat Wiscy.

If those games go as expected, we still need Wiscy to lose another while we finished with no more losses, or Wiscy to lose 2 more if we lose one more.

If we lose 2 more, it's pretty much a given that it's another OK, but not great, season (at best).

I'd be surprised if we lost more than 2 more, but things can happen (come out flat, injuries render us impotent, just get outplayed, etc.).

I didn't know players posted on this site. Your handle is HawkSTL so I'll assume you're Dallas Craddieth then since he is the only one from St. Louis. Good to hear the players perspectives and goals.

Also, I think Wisky loses 3. Michigan, PSU, and either NW or Purdue.
I agree that this is possible. Wisky had not impressed this year and have won some games by playing cleaner games than some of their opponents. If they slip up against any of those teams, they are very beatable. It should be interesting.

Dakota Dixon being out is big. I think Michigan is a suped up version of Iowa, probably a little bit better against the run and about the same against the pass.

Michigan’s offense has been boom or bust over the last couple of years but they have their best quarterback in about a decade. I hope they can pull it off. If they do, the stakes get raised for the PSU game and I wouldn’t call it impossible for the hawks to pull it out in HV.

I think northwestern will make it tough on Wisconsin but will need a couple turnovers to pull it off. Purdue and Minnesota have equal shots in my mind. I don’t think Purdue can stop the run, but they have an explosive offense. Minnesota could make it interesting if their freshman tackle develops and can give anexstad some time to find his receivers. Plus the gophers have a very good run defense, sans the Maryland game.

I think Wisconsin is definitely down this year by their recent standards. BYU home loss is bad. But for our own brain farts I think we win pretty handily (like by 10). And Nebraska moved the ball fairly easily on the road. I have no doubt Michigan and PSU beat Wisc. And I think Purdue has a better chance than Northwestern. Problem is we have PSU and basically every year we have that "huh, WTF was that game/loss?" Maybe it was Wisconsin with the errors who knows. But I am very worried about this weekend. If we are as sloppy as last week look out. We have to be able to run.

I agree with most of you in this thread, but although Indiana cannot be overlooked, I believe Iowa could have zero yards rushing and still win the game. I think Iowa's passing attack could be that good. But that doesn't mean I recommend that strategy.

I do believe Iowa can and will run well on Indiana and demonstrate a fairly balanced attack, but run success will depend, IMHO, on BF going to more misdirection. Give our O-line the chance to fool people more and reduce the necessity to block perfectly or the play gets blown up.

Throwing on first and second down would be a good first quarter strategy as well. Iowa ran well on Minny on first down, then got blown up on second down. That's not a good approach against anyone, but again, Iowa's emerging passing attack more than made up for it.

I also would love to see Iowa run tempo the entire first quarter, especially on the road. It seems to get Stanley--and the entire offense--off to a good start, establishes momentum, and gets the defense on its heels from the get-go. I think it's a tremendous tool that BF should consider SOP rather than a gimmick.

Finally, I believe Iowa plays a clean game on Saturday, wins the TO battle, scores on special teams and/or defense, and wins the game handily.

I believe OSU gained under 100 yds rushing against Indiana so I doubt we will have a great day running the ball. I hope I am wrong.

I find it hard to believe of all the collage football fans on this board and very few of them must actually watch much football??? My point is .....this season as far from over ....anybody can beat anybody on any given week!! Yes Wisc. has the advantage today....it doesn't mean they will 2 weeks from now! I could see both teams losing 2 more games yet this season! One of them may lose one ...the other 3?? One of them my win out.... one may lose 3?? Lets just hope The Hawks finish strong and we'll see where the chips fall. Stop complaining "Chicken little" (the sky is falling) and enjoy the ride!!

What scares me is that Indiana has a good offense, and our defense is looking like a MASH unit. LBers hurt and out. CBs hurt. The pressure is on our d-line to stop the run and pass. Tough task.

Do you agree?

IOWA beats Indiana in a close, tough battle

and

the Cheezers fall to Michigan at Ann Arbor.

Hawkeyes in first place, again. GO HAWKS !! :)
One more thing would have to happen - Nebraska would have to win its first game of the season. Otherwise, Northwestern would be up by a half game.

Badgers defense is reeling with injury and inexperience, Michigan at home is a daunting task.
We could lose to PSU also, we aren't a great defensive team this season, however, I think we win all the rest if we don't have further injury and the others return.
With Van Ginkel still hurting, Loudermilk down, 2 starting caliber CB's down and a 3rd leaving the team in a huff, along with losing Safety Nelson for the first half Saturday night, not expecting a win.
Give the points.

If Wisconsin runs the ball and controls the game, playing from ahead. I think they roll Michigan. I think this is what happens..You should worry about just taking care of your own business. Indiana is no patsy this year. Lose that and it doesn't matter what Wis does.

It's interesting that some people believe Wisconsin has a cake walk in Ann Arbor, but the Hawkeyes may be doomed in Bloomington. Yes, interesting indeed....

Let's all meet back here after the games on Saturday and see what everyone thinks then. ;)

Not arguing but wasn't our 03 9-3 regular season considered one of our "great" seasons after beating Zooker's Gators in Outback? Still have no idea how we finished in the top ten with 3 losses but i'll take it. I'd consider 10-3 a great season considering how few times we have finished with under 5 losses lately. Most of the fans I talk to don't expect to be a playoff contender every year, they'd just like to finish with under 5 losses with some kind of regularity. With who we typically play i don't think that's an unrealistic expectation.

lol...Wisconsin isn't rolling Michigan....Big Eddy.

Northwestern is so damn hard to figure out. Beat MSU handily and almost Michigan and lose badly to Akron and Duke.
I wouldn’t put much into the Akron game. They lost by 4 or 5, and Akron had 3 defensive touchdowns. That is a fluke.
