This Is Why We Need More Bernies

Bernie has done OK. Right wingers like to bitch about his house situation. I guess they don't think he and his wife should have inherited a house from her parents.
People are homeless and Bernie is ‘hoarding’ houses according to his economic world view.
What’s his excuse for abandoning socialist principles? Sentimentality?

SS isn’t an investment opportunity, it’s an insurance policy. No American ever got a letter saying we don’t have the money. We should be proud of that.”

Just one of many things Greenspan got wrong. He also got some things right - like when he told Congress to bring down the deficit rather than cut taxes. But of course they cut taxes.

Easy enough to ensure purchasing power of SS with proper, legally-required cost-of-living adjustments.
He said the purchasing power of cash, not simply the purchasing power of SS payouts.

What he’s saying is you can run the printing presses to pay the cash that the Ponzi will run out of, but the consequence of that is you diminish the purchasing power of cash for everyone.

There is no free lunch.

Greenspan understood the consequences of MMT before it was cool.

He started strong with the argument that we don't want America to turn into an oligarchy, then went to crazy Bernie mode... Yes, he's still the most dangerous politician in America, potentially in American history.

Free shit for all
Never defines fair share
Make government bigger
Make unions more powerful
Every worker should earn the nebulous "living wage" (which is bs anyway when people think you should be able to support a family on a single minimum wage job...).

Give him credit for saying Scotland should be able to go their own way.

If you like out of control inflation and insolvency for America and small businesses through the country, Bernie is your guy! He can make it all sound great and wants to make us believe we can have all the benefits and none of the accountability. We can't, and "trying" would take generations to recover from, and would likely be impossible since a long the way the dollar would be replaced by another currency as the standard for global transactions.

My brother’s business isn’t like the office of Bernie’s staffers, which is allocated a budget each year regardless of what work they perform.
My brother’s business does glasswork. Mostly shower installs in bathroom remodels, some storefront glass as well. His employees work 5 days a week getting shit done, because getting shit done is what makes the moeny flow into the business each week.
How does Bernie expect my brother to make payroll for a fifth day where no one works, and gets anything done that people will pay to get done? Does he just expect him to raise prices on his customers 25% to accommodate the new work week with no cut in pay?
How does a Bernie supporter see this working in real life?

The 40-hour workweek was established in 1940. The economy has changed a little bit since then.

That would be great but what’s going to stop companies from raising the price of everything they sell or the services they provide?
If you’re able to come up with someone who will make this happen, then why aren’t they doing anything about inflated prices to this date.
The only way I see this as a benefit is that I’ll be able to pick up another job working 8-12 hours during that off day assuming that I will be working four 8 hr shifts at my full time job.
It would be great having another day off but most Americans are already falling behind on debt.

When you force business to cut work hours by 20% while maintaining current salaries, you effect a 25% increase in the cost of labor,.. What else would you expect them to do?

Bernie is running for reelection.

This is good for a number of reasons.

1. Obviously I like it because I like his positions on nearly all issues.
2. The Senate needs more progressives. Maybe he would have been replaced by an equally good progressive, but why risk it?
3. He's living proof that the "age issue" is phony. Yes, some older people lose competence and coherence, but it isn't axiomatic. Even if you don't like Bernie, you have to admit he's competent and coherent.

If you watch the video of Bernie. He said that wouldn’t happen. I expect them to increase the cost, that’s why I’m asking who is going to make sure that doesn’t happen. Leading to my other question on the topic.

I just ordered his latest book. Yes, he's written a few. I'll let you know how he feels about capitalism when I'm actually reading it.

The title notwithstanding, it's quite possible to be angry about capitalism without wanting to completely eliminate it. In fact, if you are a thinking person, it's probably required to be angry about it.

Because he owns 3 homes and millions of homeless own zero. He is hoarding. Even though he inherited a house - he could sell it and give the money to the US government to help create equality. Then he could bring himself from the top 1% to the average 50%.

Bingo.

The first time he ran for POTUS I thought he was kind of a nut. But then we elected Donald Trump and discovered what a nut really is.

Ten people in the US are worth a combined $1 trillion. The combined wealth in this country is $111 trillion, But our government is $31 trillion in debt and we have millions and millions of people with very little income and no net worth.

It's good to see Bernie still fighting the good fight.
So, you’re in favor of socialism?
