Awesome!!! Another convert to raising the minimum wage to make it livable!!! Welcome!!!
That just raises unemployment for the least skilled and forecloses opportunities they would otherwise have to gain skills and thereby earn better pay.
It’s not that I think you don’t mean well, you’re just ignorant of the outcome, and think the intentions will somehow overcome.

What if we offered this to the working class: cut their pay by 15.3% and then promise to give less than the total of that money back to them when they retire? In favor, or against that idea?

Would it be better to let the working class keep 15.3% of their pay, to save and spend as they see fit in their circumstances over the entire course of their lives? Would they be worse off saving and compounding interest on that 15.3% of their pay, or getting less than their total ‘contribution’ back if they’re among the demographic cohort expected to live past 67?

And then we could put wings on frogs and have them fly over this idea in formation...like the Blue Angels! And these people will hit 60 or 65 or magical 67 and discover they have absolutely nothing to live on. Only an idiot would think someone living paycheck to paycheck is going to take a few thousand extra a year and put it in savings and CONTINUE to live paycheck to paycheck. Seventy million Americans proved beyond any shadow of a doubt that they are dumber than a box of rocks in the last election. That they can't see past the ends of their own noses. And YOU think they'll focus on the consequences of buying a new car now versus having - possibly - a few dollars to live on in retirement.

Sooo...give them that little bit of money and hope against hope that they forego today in anticipation of a day forty years down the road. Then set up whatever tax will be needed to take care of the elderly who have no money left.

"Twenty-five percent of seniors are trying to live on $15,000 a year or less...."

You might think that this would have come up in the 2024 election and that the candidate who cared about it would have won.

I can't remember it coming up. Can you?

Nope. I wouldn't be surprised if a large percentage of these low fixed income elderly voted for Orange Julius Caesar

‘Do not forget’: Bernie Sanders has a message if you’re worried about Trump 2.0

I'm curious as to what's the ideal 'minimum' wage. I mean, if $15/hr is good then $30 is even better, correct?

Why stop there? $40...$50...$60 an hour?

We all need another senator on Pharma payroll...yes sir!

He doesn't take PAC money. His pharma money was just from small dollar donations of people that work in that industry.

Essentially, the smear attempt would be like if you tallied up the amount of money donated from McDonalds employees and then saying look Bernie is taking money from McDonalds.

Ya right...what ever. Did you read his statement? They are in his pockets. Just stop making excuses on 1.5 million.

“No, no, no,” Sanders responded. “I ran for president like you. I got millions and millions of contributions. They did not come from the executives, not one nickel of PAC money from the pharmaceutical industry. They came from the workers.”

I was a closet Bernie fan until then.
