I almost certainly would have seen one and not realized it. Grew up in SW Iowa during the 60s and early 70s.Spotting this plane is only rare if you don’t live around Omaha, NE or SW Iowa. Otherwise you see them all the time.
US Navy isn't fighting a land war.U.S. Navy is just a little ahead of you…
Never see one fly but I have seen one up close at the SAC Museum in Ashland. NE.I almost certainly would have seen one and not realized it. Grew up in SW Iowa during the 60s and early 70s.
Coolest plane I saw back then was a British Vulcan flying around.

True but a humvee mounted system of similar capabilities and smaller size would work.US Navy isn't fighting a land war.
Nor is what you'd posted something any infantry soldier could carry to protect them from drones.
Yet still useless to trenched in infantry.True but a humvee mounted system of similar capabilities and smaller size would work.
Army has basically the same system...US Navy isn't fighting a land war.

No one is getting drafted, Jimmy. Relax and stay calm.My wife doesn't like following the news. I am about to tell her our oldest might be drafted in the next couple of months

It'd be pretty sweet install near ammunition dumps and maintenance depots ect...Which, again, isn't practical for infantry.
Already pointed this out re; Gepard.
Those will probably become mission critical for that scenario. It'd be pretty sweet install near ammunition dumps and maintenance depots ect...
Ivan - "Uuuuhhhhh, let's store all this ammo in the huge courtyard formed by those 8 story buildings. The Ukrainians will never be able to see it" <grabs vodka from Igor's hands>Bad guys ammo goes boom at 0:45, at 1:06 we get an incredible fireworks display with a giant mushroom cloud. One of the bigger explosions I have seen since the invasion.
Guess the Russians are going to need to find some more WW2 ammo somewhere!
Cut that land bridge!
If ATACMS would have been provided by now that whole stretch of land would be a kill zone.Cut that land bridge!

Maybe this is a mission for portable laser weapons?Yet still useless to trenched in infantry.
Think: specialized rifle, or ammo round that will shoot a spray of small "shot" to easily take out a loitering or attacking drone.
What you are describing is a Gepard/Cheetah. Which would still be a useful weapon, but not "portable" for infantry.
Congrats for not thinking like a megalomaniac.
