This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

Sounds bad but it turns out Poland wants only the latest German model which they say they are short of themselves.

"Poland provided a huge number of tanks to Ukraine, as it was our duty to help in this way, Polish president said in Davos, Switzerland.

Andrzej Duda, who is attending the World Economic Forum, was asked on Tuesday about the possible delivery of German tanks to Poland in order to fill the shortfall caused by the transfer of Polish tanks to Ukraine.

"In the first instance I expect Germany to help Ukraine. Today Ukraine needs help first and foremost. We donated tanks to Ukraine, indeed in very large numbers," he said and added that this reduced Poland's defence potential.

"We are counting on the support of the community, which is NATO, and we are counting on the support of the USA, and also of Germany," the president emphasised.

He noted that the majority of Polish armoured forces tanks are now German Leopard 2 tanks. "If we were supported by our allies from Germany with a number of tanks to replace the ones we gave to Ukraine, we would be very grateful. We were given such a promise, but we have heard that Germany does not want to fulfill this promise. This is a big disappointment for us," he said. "

"The Polish army has around 250 German-made Leopard 2 tanks and according to media reports was hoping that Germany would furnish some more.

Last week, the Czech Republic said it had received 15 Leopard 2 A4 tanks to make up for the T-72s it had sent to Ukraine.

According to Germany's Der Spiegel weekly, Warsaw unlike Prague was insisting on having the latest Leopard tanks, leading to a deadlock as even the German army does not have these in sufficient amount."

So Ukrainians are trying to blow up their own dam to kill Russian invaders in towns below? Is that the takeaway?

Now that they've failed and the invaders certainly know about the plot...is there any reason to keep trying? Was it ever a good idea to begin with?
It may be that the threat of destroying the dam changes Russian tactics and location.

Hey Germany, this is how its done.
"IRANHA III APCs that were donated by Denmark visas going to Ukraine."

"New batch of M777A2 howitzers sighted crossing into Ukraine."

But then you compare that to videos like this. Maybe it is mostly supplies.
"Fresh equipment from Russia near Donetsk"

Oh I'm sure Russia has decided to send everything they have into Ukraine. It's the only chance they have. They're going to work to make one extremely major offensive over the next few weeks, throwing every single weapon, tank, soldier they can at it and hope to quickly overwhelm Ukraine, at least in key areas around the SE and Russian border to strengthen their hold on Donbas, Crimea, Mariupol, and maybe even move towards some other key stakes. Intelligence says it's really going to be August before the big heavy hitter weapons start arriving in enough scope to truly help Ukraine win the war. Russia I think is hoping to overwhelm them into maybe agreeing to give up certain aspects of ukraine and calling victory before they can get there.

Ukraine has got to mount another furious defense and take all that Russia throws over the next month at them. If they can continue to withstand, with only some minor setbacks hopefully Russia will thrown their haymaker and if Ukraine hasn't fallen, will then take them down from that point. But Russia still has some major punches they can throw, although if the reports that ALL of their military is now in Ukraine, they're taking an extremely high risk. Now is a perfect time for neighbors to get uppity with Russia.

Well done....check out the great reply.

May be propaganda but could help explain the growing pains of a rapidly expanding army.

get uppity, y’all.
As Brother John Lewis would preach, “ It is time to get in some good trouble.”

Please hang tough. More help is on the way.

More on those T62s. I will say that if Russia can create some sort of breakout, these will probably do fine in the open terrain. (Always be pessimistic, that way you are never disappointed.)

"Ukraine’s Armed Forces have repelled nine Russian attacks in the Donetsk and Luhansk directions, destroying over 30 units of enemy equipment.
That’s according to the General Staff, Ukrinform reports.
“Over the past 24 hours, nine attacks by Russian invaders were repulsed in Donetsk and Luhansk directions; three tanks, eight artillery systems, eighteen units of armored combat vehicles, a special armored vehicle, and another enemy vehicle were destroyed. Air defense units destroyed six Orlan-10 UAVs and one ZALA operational-tactical drone in the said direction,” the report reads.
The Russians intensified the use of aircraft to support the offensive of their ground group. Due to the lack of stockpiles of high-precision missile weapons, the invaders are looking for other ways to destroy critical and military infrastructure.

Up to seven battalions of the Belarus army are strengthening protection of the border with Ukraine in Volyn and Polissya directions. The threat of the enemy's missile and air strikes from the territory of Belarus remains in place.

In the Siversky direction, the enemy continues to strengthen the cover of the border, equipping strongholds in Bryansk region. The occupiers continued artillery and mortar shelling of the Ukrainian positions and civilian infrastructure in Sumy region.

In the Kharkiv direction, the Russian focused their main efforts are focused on maintaining the occupied positions. They fired artillery at civilian infrastructure near the village of Rubizhne. In addition, the enemy made another attempt at offensive operations in the direction of Ternova, achieving no gains.

In the Slovyansk direction, Russian enemy units took no significant action, concentrating their main efforts on holding their ground, conducting reconnaissance, and creating conditions for resuming the offensive. The enemy employed artillery, MLR systems, mortars, and tanks near Sviatohirsk and Dovhenke, as well as launched an air strike near the village of Bayrak.
With the support of artillery and army aircraft, the enemy tried to take control of the village of Pasika – with no success.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy intensified hostilities, especially in the area of Lyman where they used artillery and air support.

With the support of artillery fire, the Russians are also conducting an offensive in the direction of Sievierodonetsk, where firefights continue.

In the Bakhmut direction, the Russians conducted offensive operations in the area of Komyshuvakha, Yakovlivka, and Troitsky, with no success, suffering losses.

In the Avdiyivka direction, the enemy doesn’t stop mortar and artillery shelling of the Ukrainian positions and civilian infrastructure in the areas of Avdiyivka, Pisky, Maryinka, Orikhiv, and Novosilka. It used assault and army aircraft in the areas of Kamyanka, Avdiyivka, and Novomykhailivka.

No active hostilities were observed in the South Buh area. The enemy shelled Ukrainian forces and launched counterbattery fire, also making engineering efforts at the main roads and bridges.

In order to replenish significant losses of manpower and equipment on the territory of Ukraine, the Russians are forming reserve units from the Southern Military District.

No change these days is good news!

This war already has a global effect….but not allowing food to arrive is unacceptable. I wouldn’t mind seeing NATO/US throw down a big dick move and make sure this “blockade” ceases
I wish they would too. They can open Odessa and not interfere with the war elsewhere. We would have to guarantee we were not bringing in weapons through there ,though I'm sure Russia would never accept the deal.

If so much as one rock from a slingshot flies into Ukraine from Belarus, just f'ing level that country.

Do that, and there won't be a single Russian ally taking any more "risks".
