This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

Here's the problem with that, we have exported so much of our production overseas that would hurt us worse than them.
Never let your personal ideological construct get in the way of reality. China isn't in any position to hamstring their wobbly economy. And, we can get by without a lot of the crap they make for US consumption. Meanwhile manufacturing would rapidly move to other locations.

Gotta believe your last statement is already playing out. Big chip plant investment by Intel for instance. Domestic battery production spurred by the latest Biden incentive. Just a couple of examples.

HORT is my only news source on the war in Ukraine fyi, but it seems to me that Ukraine is having unprecedented success against the Russians. Like, it’s almost impossible to believe how well it’s going. My worry now is what Putin will do as the walls close in, and they seem to be closing fast….

It’s bad for Russia when their most significant missile strike on a Ukrainian convoy in weeks, if not months, was on a humanitarian convoy of civilians attempting to deliver food and medicine.

The headline should read:

“Traitor Stokes Domestic Fear to Erode Western Support for Ukraine on Behalf of the Kremlin”

He knows damn well that would engage Poland/UN into the conflict formally and would all but destroy his entire military construct within weeks. Even Putin isn’t stupid enough to do that. But Rubio sows fear for Putin’s benefit. Why?

I source a few other places for war news, but this thread is amazing. Thanks to all for the continuous input.
Y’all have been resolute and consistent in providing updates. Again, thank you.
Without being pompous, I feel that I am better educated than most citizens about the Ukraini conflict.

Almost every night I am incredibly disappointed in the reporting on all national news outlets. This thread is amazing. The only real question is when we hit 1,000 pages will it flip back to 1 or will rivals show 4 digits worth of pages? And views, will it have 7 figures when it hits 1M?

…” incredibly disappointed in the reporting…”
Why is the country/world uninterested? Does this conflict not influence all humans on planet Earth?
This war will change ag supplies, supply chain issues, global energy trade, migration of the dispossessed, diplomatic interactions, and virtually all interactions country vs. country for decades to follow.
The dissolution of the Russian empire may in fact be a result of this war. World changing.

All great points. People have short attention spans I guess. To me this is easily the most important conflict in a LOOOONG time. Maybe since the Korean War. Hell, maybe since WW2, for the reasons you give and more.
