This was a test for Sullivan, and he failed

Michael Jordan Lol GIF

The sad part is he looked better than anything we’ve had recently. I’m sure next year will be the year our QBs don’t blow

I don't blame Sullivan. I think he could be really good...however, anyone who says it's Lester's offense is wrong. It is definitely Ferentz's philosophy. They have ZERO intermediate passing game. It is almost all short passes.
He can’t be really good. Been in college 4 years now and he can’t drop back and deliver. Runs way too early and makes terrible mistakes. Likeable guy but not a starter at this level

He was horrible in the second half
Sure. But why is that? Check the play calls. That had about 110% to do with it. The play calls in the first half kept UM off balance. In the second half? LOL It was back to play not to lose, and guess what happend, again? That's all on the coaches. You put any QB in that same situation, and you're gonna get the same result. OTOH, give Sully ALL freakin' day to stand still and throw, like the Mizzou QB, and see how that turns out.

Parker NEVER blitzed the entire damn game. That is criminal, and despite the inept second half play calling on offense, if the D had blitzed in key situations, Iowa would have won anyway. Pretty simple really.

I’m a Hawkeye through and through but it’s time for a youth movement in Iowa City. We have Dinosaur coaches playing a game played 40 years ago. Hell I’m a Dinosaur too but I can see it. It’s time for a change and I want Kirk to get that record and then walk into the sunset after next year.

Sullys biggest problem today was leaving a perfectly clean pocket and letting plays develop. He had time to throw almost all day. Hes to quick to try and run and then he panics. First half his initial reads were open and he hit them. 2nd half he wasn’t trusting anything and it cost him and us.

Sullivan played well I thought, some great runs and passes today. Lachey is way slower than prior TEs, easily draped and part of why that pick happened. We knew he wasn't NFL when season started. Gill dropped a key 3rd down catch. Lester needs to try a few deep shots instead of 0. And at least one trick play. I thought the last 4th and 1 was the perfect time to try something, they were sitting on sneak.

77% completions. Would have been better if Gill didn’t drop his. Only took 2 sacks (not ideal timing but they never are) all in all he is ok. Needs to read defenses better and stay in pocket better.
He has potential but I’m not seeing him being even close to as good as what the top teams have. 7-5 next year if the defense doesn’t step up and if PP doesnt freaking send some blitzes every once in a while (that’s the most frustrating thing about this loss)

7-5? Did Iowa’s schedule change?

He looked great on the first drive and couple other early ones

But good teams adapt. Other than the 25 yard floater to the TE….was there another pass that went further than 10 yards ?

RBs were very solid but outside the one big run, everything was contained

Defense adjusted to take away the short passes, and they bent and didn’t break with the running game. Basically played Iowa D better than Iowa cause they could get QB pressure

He doesn’t trust his arm. He started the game off staying in the pocket and completing passes. Then he has one scramble for an easy 10 yards and it’s like his mind can’t forget that easy run - because the rest of the game he just wants to take off and try to scramble for that easy 10 yards everytime Lester called a pass play.

It’s a sad state of affairs when many Hawk fans knew the game was over once Missouri tied it, because they have absolutely no confidence in the offense or any of our qb’s to put a drive together when needed at the end of a game.

The irony is those plays not to lose were runs up the middle that were gashing the crap out of Mizzou. Then we tried to throw or run outside.

I'm very skeptical as well, but it wouldn't surprise me if he's the best QB on the roster. That's the problem. The room is comprised of 5 backup QB's and no starters. They still need to find QB1.

For Pete's sake the qb we get from the portal was a backup

Brown was a puzzling selection IMO, but we know little about him other than Lester was still looking for a higher level QB after signing him up. I think that tells us a lot about not only Brown, but everyone else on the roster.
