First- Congrats to Buchanan who showed he is a MAN.

Thought the takedowns that were contested with bricks on the Ayala -Fuggitt semi- final were both nothing burgers. guess "taking a man down with control" has been removed from the verbiage.
If anything, Fuggitts was more legit. Sad that these were even considered takedowns.

Caliendo showed big improvement. Mesenbrink is the essence of wrestling, but Caliendo made him work for every point.

McEnelly will be a 3 x champ.

PSU fought like lions in the consies and deserved the record.

I predicted (wrongly) that Hendricksen would find a way to his back. So cool that he tweaked his game and became a legend in his own right.

Ono to PSU-
Wonder how he will like mat wrestling?

McEnelly vs. Angelo will be great...could be McEnelly will not hold 184, though.

so do they scream for Carl's head on a pike since the Lions underperformed in the semis and two of their returning National Champs sat in the spectators seats during the Finals ?? The PSU crowd boasted of 5 maybe 6 Champs this year... sure they won the team title but with 2 champs and 10 AAs but if Carl was in front of an Iowa Crowd in here he would have been roasted. We have a high standard for Iowa wrestling but sometimes we as a group tend to be a wee bit harsh ... I am already tired of the " Fire TNT" stuff and its only been 3 days since it was Championship Saturday night. Maybe we make a positive spin on having THREE in the Finals and a National Champion....I guarantee this would be a better look for perspective recruits.

I agree. Fire Cael and ban Penn State from the postseason for the next 3 seasons.

Ha! Half of the Hawkeye team was sitting in the stands after day one. And your golden boy Spencer left the arena and refused to compete after losing in the semis. Something taught to him by his self centered coaches
sounds like someone might need another vaccine booster shot for a bad manstrual cycle or severe cramping. how was your view from the cheap seats ?

I think Cali will work hard off-season and beat MM next year.
He’s shown these last two matches that he can definitely wrestle with him; closing the gap big time from the dual to big tens and then a little more from big tens to nationals. His confidence seems to be growing in that match and I do think Cali snags a match from him sometime next year; just hoping it’s at nationals in the finals.

He just looked different when the match was over. Disappointed and angry about loss. I believe he will do what he needs to and game plan with coaches. MM is exceptionally great but also overconfident and ripe for upset just like others.... Stevenson.

I still can't figure out how they gave three in the Ayala-Fugitt match. I've watched it a dozen times at least and it doesn't look possible for Drake to have still been in bounds with hands down beyond reaction time. I ain't mad though.

I don't get the same arrogant vibe from MM as I do from Gable. Kind of loved Gable getting beat and thought he had it coming to be honest. I think MM knows Caliendo is coming for him and that will be something he uses to push himself in the offseason. MM is my favorite wrestler to watch on PSU and he seems like a well-spoken human with a good head on his shoulders.

That being said, I hope like hell Caliendo beats him next year!

On broadcast I think they were saying Fugitt’s foot was still in. It was off ground but still inside circle (if you think of it like a cylinder).

Keeping it close in back to back matches is definitely a big improvement. Has he taken him down yet in any match though? That’s another big hurdle. I think he can do it, but definitely has work to do

Interesting. I could see that, but still very hard to imagine that call is consistent with the way reaction time has been called all year.

I thought he had taken him down at some point. Maybe not 🤷

Ono will probably play catch and release like Messenbrink, but aside from that I'm sure he'll learn some mat wrestling.

1. none of this is true 2. get a life you f****** troll

What if Mess moves up to 174, Haines take redshirt or gray shirt or Olympic year or whatever they do over there to get guys to stick around. This way Sealy(sp) has a spot in the lineup….

I believe Max will hold 184 with little to no issue. He barely cut weight this season, and isn’t very tall.
Basch projected Evan McGuire to start at 197 for MN. Is beating Gavin Nelson? or do you think it was oversight on his part as he did his projections quickly

he didnt leave lol. You may be thinking of Starocci quitting the PSU team after B1Gs last year

havent rewatched but I believe JB and DC said the legs were hovering inbounds or something to that effect

Or Kerk forfeiting after semis losses on two occasions

Gable was content to win the close match thinking he could defend good enough. He made a big mistake of course. He should have actively sought another takedown. OSU use to wrestle that way and it often backfired on them at Nationals.

Can you explain how Ayala's takedown was beyond reaction time, while Byrd's at the end of the third isn't? I'd love to hear from an expert like yourself!
It's a moot point now. Why is that takedown such a big deal to you still? There were dozens of questionable calls over the weekend
