Most of the comments are praising this driver of the red truck, but to me he’s as much at fault as the guy behind him.

Probably inevitable given the white truck’s speed, but the red truck driver wasn’t paying attention either. Tried to play it off like he planned it all out.

I have almost gotten hit when people do this. Nothing worse than being stuck in a quick backup on the interstate and hoping you don’t get creamed.

Guy in red truck saved his own ass, but not solely from the truck/trailer behind him.

He stays in his lane, he hits the vehicle in front of him before he gets hit from behind. And since when following other vehicles it's your responsibility to maintain a safe distance behind the vehicle in front of you...

Yeah, the white car was toast either way.

I disagree, red truck could have stopped in time he just moved over to avoid having his ass smashed in.

I can relate to red truck because I have watched tailgaters behind me not paying attention. I have saved a few people from car accidents by having good stopping distance and I politely feathering them into the stop. In this case it doesn't look like that would have been an option.

I dont understand how the red truck has any blame. is he at fault for getting the F out of way of a truck that couldn't stop a car ahead of of him? lmfao. I dont get it at all. explain how he has any fault

I don't think it is his fault. A little self preservation, instead of sacrificing his truck with no better outcome for anyone else.

I had a version of this happen to me a few years ago in Chicago. I'm slowing for a red light, happen to look into the rearview mirror and see a small sedan flying up behind me. No other cars on either side so I shifted left into the turn lane. Guy whizzed right by me and T-boned somebody going across under the green light. Fortunately he caught the back quarter panel other wise it could've been a fatal.

I'm not saying the red truck guy deserves "blame". I believe he did what he did thinking he might hit the vehicle in front of him.
It looked to me like he could have stopped in time. He let off the brakes to leave room to get around the car. Good maneuvering.
