Three wrestlers arrested

I remember watching a lot of awful Braves baseball on wtbs during the 80's. I tuned in nightly just to watch Dale Murphy.

Grandma was a Cubs fan...she kept score and everything. I had no choice. :)

Well heck, since this thread is so far off course....

I sat in my Grandparents' den as a child and kept a scorebook for many, many Cubs games with my Grandma. To this day I am a Cubs fan above all else (ok, maybe tied for #1 with Hawkeye FB, BB, and wrestling). I am really bummed to no longer have games on WGN nationally.

That is a bummer, indeed. I have great memories of watching the Cubs on WGN and the Braves on WTBS (as they used to call it) all summer. On any given day, one of the two ballclubs was almost always on TV.

Great stuff Chief. Always enjoy your stuff. I wont go into details but I can pinpoint an exact time in my life that has pretty much determined where I stand in this world to this day. Dont get me wrong, I'm happy, have a great family but that one moment has caused struggles that I wouldn't have neccasarily had. Im a somewhat spiritual person, believe God has a plan for me and I've always looked at that one moment in time as just a small part of that plan. True, at times I wished maybe it wouldnt have ever happened. But who knows, maybe if it didnt happen my life could have very well turned out worse.. Or maybe I wouldnt even be around anymore..
+1 JTS. Not many have that defining moment where one can point to fate, God, karma, the stars, luck or Charlie Manson (tried to run the gamut).

I do not know why anyone on this board is trying to solve social issues on threads.
Not to be out of line and I am sorry if it offends but....
This is a board about wrestling and more specifically the Hawks.
Why are y'all wasting time on arguments that have no way of being resolved? Only creates ill-will.
I know I can just not look at this thread but it is starting to pop up on other threads.
Can we go back to wrestling?

I get you 255...the Cubs are a social issue all unto their own. No more baseball talk...Go CARDS!!!

I believe all this off topic stuff started when someone came on the Hawkeye Wrestling board to tell us how proud they were of a non Hawkeye for being gay. Just my opinion.

My comments are in response to what was posted previously. Thanks for your advice, but can't let it go. Skip over it if you don't like it would be my advice to you
I wasn't speaking directly to you, but to all. My humble request stands.
I get what you are saying, but I don't see many posters stepping up and requesting an end to the thread when you have loud mouths spouting off unabated about how all the problems in our country are because some Christian, straight, white, employed, male made it so. I documented the favorable puccillo gay support thread in raw numbers and everyone was happy as goats on the board, until of course even nominal support was not enough--so it apparently escalated. (What happened to that thread by the way, I don't read every day and when I came back it was gone.)

overeasy--If you truly want this sort of crap to cease, be consistent and call it both ways when you read it. I see these threads usally starting out usually being one sided and when people get sick of it and chime in, then everyone wants it to end because maybe their world-views are being shattered on the message board. Facts and reality have crushed many dreams.

If your honest intent is to stop all off topic messages or messages that are too political and not just messages that aren't aligned with your political views, I apologize ahead of time for misinterpreting your post.

Since this is going nowhere, here's my story

Great Grandpa=Card Fan
Grandpa (and he turned my Grandma)=Cub Fan
Father=Card Fan
Me=Card Fan
Vall Jr.=Card Fan

The pattern was to root against your parents' team (we're a surly / argumentative bunch*) and I was on track to be a Cub fan but my dad developed an indoctrination plan in which he took me to STL for a game and bought me a pennant for my bedroom wall. That's all it took and I was locked in on the Cardinals (and thank God for that).

Grandma had lost her eyesight, so Harry Carry was her eyes. She "watched" (really listened) to the Cub Games all the time. She lived in Decorah and when I was in college, I'd go to her house to watch the Cards play the Cubs. She was also really good antagonizing me. She'd ask me to repeat what just happened when she clearly knew that the Cardinal player had struck out or the Cub player had hit a HR. The last game we watched together was the Ryne Sandberg two HR off Bruce Sutter game. I left her house that day and decided it wasn't healthy for our relationship if we kept watching games together.

*I'm a Dolphin Fan simply b/c they beat my brother's favorite Vikings in the 1974 Super Bowl.

As far as I can tell, Vall, the only intelligent decision you've made so far in life, apart from marrying your wife and having kids, was to attend Luther College.

Vall...don't listen to the haters (ahem WDM). If you think about it, the Cardinals are the Iowa Wrestling of baseball. Second most titles and do nothing but win on a consistent basis.

86_90...it's taking all my will power to stay out of it because I like debate. I think we might agree on a few things but people are inundated with this stuff in the news, at work, etc. This is a great place for people from all over the spectrum to come together as Hawk and wrestling fans.

Alright! Baseball talk. We never get this!

AZ please dont compare Iowa wrestling with the Cards. I dont care for either Cubs or Cards which is a rarity in Iowa. Seems most are one or the other. I am a Braves fan too. Grew up on TBS with Murphy, then Justice, then Chipper and of course the greatest starting staff in history.

Going to be a rough year for Atlanta but IMO the GM Hart has the rebuild going in the right direction. I thought we got the better of the Padres in that last deal. Got Whisler and still another first round pick and unloaded salary. SD can have fun paying both Uptons. Good Riddence.

Now can I say I couldnt stand either Upton or Uggla and they were worthless waste of money or will there be another thread about how good of people they are and how out of line I am?

BTW I personally know Pyrzienski is a Dbag. I can type that with 100% certainty. We throw that term around a lot but he is the definition!.

Well since we are on other sports lol.
Way back when I was a kid my dad told me "never bet against these teams, Yankees, Norte Dame and Mpls Lakers.
Well times have changed lol.
The way they pay these guys in pro sports I really don't follow much anymore just a big HAWK WRESTLING FAN.

Sorry, but I was not "calling it" one way or another. Nowhere in my posts have I offered an opinion regarding the political discussions. I was not responding to any particular point of view or any particular post.

I'd simply rather not read this stuff in a thread started with, and still under the title of, a completely different subject; in this case, the arrest of 3 Iowa wrestlers. While I wasn't a big fan of the Pucillo thread, at least the discussion matter was clear from the beginning.

Re: Let's stop the political bickering here

How about we talk Hawkeye wrestling and take this to the off topic board. All in favor?

If anything new happens with respect to this story, please make a new thread. That way, I will never have to visit this one again.

Azchief32-- You and others are 100% correct. I would rather see zero political/religious/racial stuff as well, but it does happen as the world moves and on this board it usually is a pig pile on someone that has a politically incorrect opinion, until others reluctantly step in to even up the odds. More cool heads than myself probably see the flamers for what they are and prudently refrain from getting involved. Unfortunately, I'm not that wise, but will take your lead and others and do my best to not get involved in the off-topic crap.

(Hope I don't see anything too crazy further down the thread.

I took that to mean two kicked out and the third not booted but is transferring.

They are talking baseball, I think. I quit following this thread and came back to see if there is any new news on these 3 wrestlers. I guess there isn't.
