Modelo Especial is poised to be the #1 beer in terms of sales in the U.S. in 2023. Which is of course owned by AB-InBev. They technically don’t own distribution rights in the U.S. but it’s definitely one of their brands.
I don’t know if the increase in market share of Modelo Especial will be enough to recoup lost sales of BL, Budweiser, Busch Light, and Mich Ultra. Long term consequences probably won’t be apparent until the end of this year.
You’re a cyclist and you drink porters and stouts? Fine if you ride like I do in the middle of winter. In the summer though after pedaling hard through 90 degrees and 90% humidity? Gross.

A runner as well. And yes, porters and stouts. On occasion a dark or amber lager. If I want water, I'll drink water.
I prefer Dos Equis, but Modelo is aiight. I have to really be thirsty to drink a Bud Light.
I love a good stout or porter - perfect cold weather beers, but they’re definitely not my “mowing beer.”

I prefer the lighter stuff in hot weather. Cool evenings might throw down a heavier IPA or something maltier, stouts, etc.
Would highly recommend Goldfinger Pils if you can find it in Iowa (Chicago 'burbs beer).

Corona Extra is still the flagship brand worldwide from what used to be Grupo Modelo. Im guessing it’s also still the #1 beer sold in Mexico as well.
I don’t let any of this nonsense affect where I buy or what I buy. I wasn’t shopping at Target before, I wasn’t drinking Bud light before, and my NFL team was worse than my Sunday hangovers from the Iowa games.

Maybe it's unintended consequences of AB insulting its customer base. And do you really expect the general beer drinker to give two sh---s about the sales rep? Do you expect them to care more about the rep than AB does?
Guinness is underrated as a dry Irish stout.
Ranks right up there with craft brews IMO. Impressive, for a long-time production beer staple.

An ad exec said they wanted to get rid of Bug Light's "fratty" and "out of touch" image.
It also didn't help that Mulvany self identifies as a six year old girl and not an adult woman, and most of his followers are under 21 years old.
If I can get yelled at in college for ordering a Dominos pizza because Dominos sold Pepsi products and Pepsi was doing business in South Africa (yes, that actually happened), then Bud Light marketing directly to children is at least equally worthy of criticism.

And no, using a trans model in an ad did not itself insult the customer base, but the explanation for the reason it was done, did. Even if Bud Light execs were right and their customers were fratty and out of touch, they were still the ones keeping the lights on. They had to expect some kind of pushback from the ads, so not having a viable response to it added to the problem. They could have responded with something like "Bud Light celebrates You being You. Be the best You possible!" Instead, they chose to go with "we don't want you as customers anymore, so f- off." And their customers said, "okay, if you insist."

A buddy of mine is a sales rep for a Miller distributor. Ran into him Friday and asked him about all this stuff. He couldn't be happier about it. A-B sales are tanking across the board, especially Bud Light, and the Miller products he sells have seen a massive increase in sales.

I listen to Hannity ever now and then so I can prep for the verbatims I will get from a couple family members. He said it is a tragedy that has caused sales to dip 43%. Of course, he has his own radio show where no one questions any statements. Guy is a truther, I tell ya.
Why do people think products need to take a stand on trans issues? Just sell beer and go home. This was a huge unforced error.
