It's suprising to me how sensitive our fan base comes off when someone voices their opinion about us. Any time anyone national puts out an opinion they meet a flood of angry Hawk fans demanding more respect, and it doesn't make us look great.

Nobody's opinion matters at all and if we continue to win we've got nothing to worry about. But also the simple fact is that it's perfectly reasonable to question our resume compared to other teams, and our eye test really hasn't been stellar save for NW. We haven't played MSU, OSU, or Mich, and to pretend that doesn't mean anything makes us look delusional. We would be skeptical of other teams with resumes similar to ours.

Guys like Cowherd and Gottlieb don't even deserve acknowledgment but they continue to troll the Hawks because they see how much action they get off of it, and guys like Herbstriet and Scott Van Pelt just seem exhausted dealing with the massive response they get when they put out the perfectly reasonable opinion that the Hawks have yet to fully prove themselves. The Hawks are on a mission, why do we need to beg for respect from the pundits when none of it matters?

I don't twitter. Why add to the game day crap we hear?? My problem is they're deliberate effort to downplay what the team has done just to build-up a blue-blood. ND beat Pitt and it was a big deal. Best win for them was Navy yet ESPN feels either they or Baylor or Florida are much more deserving.....only because they're blue-bloods.
I hope we win out (for selfish reasons obviously) just so I can watch Herbstreits head explode...:)

Agree. I don't recall the talking heads talking about any other "fan base" besides Iowa. Looking pretty whiny. All the media stuff I have seen is pretty standard fare - not "hate" as so many describe it. Like the man said, "Act like you've been there before."

However, this is all just .....

Hey now you know what it was like having to sift through all the bullsh** pessimism and complaining, warranted or not, over the last few years and leading up to this year from our own fans.

Gets pretty f***ing tiring doesn't it.......And the best part is that there are still people who haven't bought in and, some extremists who won't until Ferentz is gone (because they have to stick to their word as fans and all...........lest we get to hold that against them....).
