Congrats on your win tonight . . . a very entertaining but frustrating for this long time Golden Gopher fan living in Knoxville, IA. I hope the Hawks will continue their winning ways.

Go Gophers!!

Gutsy performance by your Gophers. They'd be a lot better this year had they not been decimated by injuries. Anyhow, here's to hoping that they beat Wisconsin!

Some of my friends that don't pay attention were surprised that we didn't crush you until I pointed out out that you took TCU, Michigan, and Ohio State to the wire. I expected a dog fight and was not disappointed. Beat wisconsin and get to a bowl game because I think that you will represent the conference well.

Hey DL! Good to see you on here. Hadn't seen anything for a while. Hope all is well!

Minnesota played a hell of a game last night and that will help Iowa in a couple of ways.

First, for Iowa's offense, it gave the team additional experience in grinding out a win against a tough opponent.

For Iowa's defense, this game will provide valuable game tape for Iowa's LBs and DBs to review and learn so that they (hopefully) don't make similar mistakes going forward. They got sucked-in bad on a few Gopher plays. Fisher and Taylor, especially, will not like reviewing MN game tape.

BTW, I never for a second believed the opening line of Iowa -12. That was an invitation to make some easy money. I never bet against the Hawks but was very, very tempted to put cash on the spread cover for this game.

But 12 points would have been the actual spread except for that ridiculous defense that allowed Minnesota to cover in the final 2 minutes.

Can't do that. Minnesota fans are convinced that bad calls robbed them of a couple potential scores. You can play "what if" scenarios all day.

I was pleasantly surprised with my interactions with a lot of Gopher fans before, during, and after last night's game. Funny, one thing we all consistently agreed upon is how big of douche bags Wisconsin people are.

For the record, I think Minnesota is a classic example of a team being much better than their record would indicate. Moving forward, I think it's a positive thing that Iowa will now be forced to address defensive weaknesses that got exposed last night after weeks of receiving nothing but praise for how stout they are.

For some reason, the more injuries they rack up, the better they seem to get?

You are exactly right. I was thinking about that a few hours back. We gave up a lot of points, yet still found a way to win. It will be good experience going forward, and hope to learn from defensive mistakes.

Kinda like us against Northwestern ... they're already motivated to win a big game for Kill and then they have all the injuries and they're heading into an away game ... probably helps to galvanize them. One of those, "the whole is more than just the sum of its parts" sort of deals.
