to me they held NW to 339 total yards, if not for 2 key drops by Easley and the last one by SO Fant Iowa could have won.

looking at it Iowa loses these on Offense
RB Wadley
WR Vandeberg
RG Welsh
on defense
WLB Bowers
MLB Jewell
OLB Nieman
DT Bazata.

this year both LT Jackson and RT Wirfs need to work on a couple areas and need to get stronger.
next season the WR, TE, QB and RB's hopefully will be on the same page, I like the young players and Wadley will end up with a good year and hopefully a bowl win.
in my opinion the future is looking bright.

these are my replacements
Wadley - Kelly-Martin/Young
Vandenberg - Brandon Smith
Welsh - Levi Paulson
on Defense
WLB Bower - Mends
MLB Jewell - Hockaday
OLB Ben Nieman - Nick Nieman
DT Bazata - Matt Nelson
to think before the season the Iowa team was returning 15 starters and now because of injuries their are only 7 left. although a couple have been passed on the depth chart.

I think the sentiment of the day is we only go as far as Kirk allows us to. This team was better then NW. What can we need to do to be innovative again? That to me is the biggest change the program needs to address.

I have an honest response to your post and you respond with this dribble? I thought I was being fair. I also have thought for a long time from a far that people were overly hard on you as a person. But you don’t know me. I’ve never been ridiculed you as you’ve just done me. I guess your reputation is purely deserved. And if that’s the case why do you continue to post here? People are disgusted by you and base on your response to me, so am I.

Nitewing you do realize Jewell was replaced by a 3 year starter today so there wasn't a huge drop off even tho Ben said after the game it was a huge change for him and so much more going on at the MLB oppose to his normal spot.

Offense is a huge worry next year, as it is has been nearly every year of KF tenure. Rarely do we worry about the D.

there is a big difference between a MLB and a OLB, so the fact that Ben is a 3 year starter has no bearing on this also who replace Ben at the OLB spot as there was no 3 year starter to replace him.

note sure you are serious as the only 3 offensive players that Iowa loses are these
RB Wadley and he has a very large bullseye on him this season
WR Vandeberg
RG Welsh
and that's it, now I would be worried if Iowa was replacing 8-9 starters on Offense, so please explain to how next year will be a big worry
this year BF is in his 1st year as a OC and his offensive players are in their 1st year of learning a new scheme. with nobody with prior knowledge or experience to guide and teach the new players.

its not time to panic or condemn any coaches or players most were predicting a 6-6 season anyway and one of those losses were to NW, and NW was favored to win today,
the fact that Iowa was without AA MLB Jewel and FS Snyder didn't help.

Jewell makes that tackle on Justin Jackson out of the backfield for little to no gain on that OT screen. Who knows what happens after that. We missed jewell today but the D was serviceable. The loss is on the O and Brian not taking what the D was giving you all day.

What B1G program or any program for that matter hires an OC that has never called a game in their life? Iowa.

Honest question: If Brian wasn't Kirk's son would he get the job at OC? Hell no.

Move Polasek to OC and Brian back to Oline. Kirk never called a play and became head coach. Just shows the sheer arrogance of the people running the program to do what they have done this last off season in these two hires.

lol the new scheme is kirk ferentz and his bag of excuses he pulls from like "we need to clean things up" "that is just how football goes" LOL LOL LOL gimme a break

I'm just wondering since Jewell and Butler where clear to play but KF said no way is this an over reaction to the beat down he took over the CJ situation last year.Jewell was ready to play and really piss off it appear

Iowa is an offensive coordinator away from being a 1 loss team. Play calling the last 2 games has been pure shit and the body language on the field today tells me the rest of the year will only get worse. These guys haven't been out of a game all season, wheres the fire, the edge, the emotion? This is a flat team that appears to just go through the motions. I'm not in the locker room or have inside info but I played a lot of sports, enough to know that this team looks defeated well before the game is over.

don't know what to tell you. you nor anyone else on this board own this team. this is a college team made up of 18-22 year olds playing nothing but a game and it is not a life or death situation,

nobody lost their life today the sun will still come up tomorrow, if some of you don't like it go follow Alabama that way you have a team that will win that National championship so many of you feel its your god given right to have.

the last 40 years KF and HF have been doing it the right way by not CHEATING, getting for the most part good hardworking kids that stay out of trouble unlike other teams players that get arrested for Drugs, Stolen Guns or are involved in multiple rapes. if that's the type of players you want. go follow Baylor, PSU or even MSU who just had a player arrested for the 7th time for driving w/o a license not to mention the players that were arrested for Rape.

there are plenty of other teams to root for if you are not happy with the Iowa team.

maybe because there is such a outcry about playing players that are/were hurt so quickly the coaches were willing to hold them out to avoid further injury, they were ripped last fall for playing CJ when it was obvious he was hurt,
the coaches are damned if they play a kid that is/was just hurt and damned if they don't play that same players.

in my opinion it is better to error on the side of protecting players from serious injuries. than to play them and risk a more serious injury.

What new scheme are they learning this year?
New blocking scheme, KF has never ran a zone blocking scheme. All those new formations with double TE's and actually using a FB, KF has never done these things. All these snaps the QB takes from center this year. I've never seen this scheme in the 19 years KF has been here. All these things are so new to Iowa football. I can barely recognize this KF offense, it's so incredibly different then anything I've ever seen KF do.

the one that is being used to replace GD's scheme. gee how short people memories are.
Very interesting that Pat Fitzgerald didn't mention anything about Iowa's new scheme. In fact he said the exact opposite. But what does he know. It's only KF that has the great knowledge of football right? Pat Fitzgerald doesn't know anything about football.

it has nothing to do with the blocking. it has more to do with the deeper pass plays. Stanley finally hit a deep pass with the receiver in stride. there are other changes that were made which you and some of these other don't have the mental capacity to understand,. terminology, snap count. route running by the RB's, TE's and WR's. blocking schemes by those same players.

everybody is learning from scratch with no experienced players to help the new players adjust. I am talking about the RSSR down to the True FR.

most of you ignore how many True FR/RSFR are playing or starting this season as well has who made their 1st starts this season
FR RT Wirfs started just his 2nd game
FR RB IKM
RSFR TE Hochenson starter
FR DE Epenesa
RSFR RB Young
RSFR LT Jackson starter
FR CB Hankins
FR WR Brandon Smith
FR WR Smith-Marsette
FR DB Stone
these are the RSSO/SO players
SO S Hooker starter
RSSO CB Ojemuda Starter
SO CB Rugumba
SO QB Stanley starter
SO TE Fant starter
RSSO DE Anthony Nelson starter who leads the team in sacks with 6 thru 7 games.
that makes 10 FR/RSFR and 6 SO/RSSO's

all these will be back next season with a full year under their belts.

but yeah I can see why poster would expect these players to play like 5th year SR's

According to everything I saw, Jewell was NOT cleared by the medical staff. This has always been KF way of handling these decisions regardless of the piece written by Mr. Cunningham.

Some of the issues we are having fall back to Stanley not getting game reps last year in the obvious situations where CJ may have been on the sidelines in certain games.

Most Hawk fans know what we have with a stubborn HC. An inexperienced OC doesn't make a lot of difference when you have the dictatorship that is Iowa football.

Lower your expectations, as I have, and you won't be as disappointed or upset when we see games like Saturday.

You say there's a new scheme but I find it interesting that no coach Iowa has played has said they have a new scheme. Those coaches must be idiots. They obviously don't have the mental capacity to understand the new schemes Iowa is supposedly running.

go back to spring practice BF said it numerous times even the players were talking about how they were excited with the new scheme, you don't remember because it does not fit your agenda of trashing the coaches,

Well the new scheme hasn't worked and its on the players and coaches so we can trash them all we want until they figure it out and make it work

Look at Wisconsin’s youth on Offense. They don’t need excuses for gelling and being on the same page.
